Don’t assume Kirkland’s final decision yet

No. If you lose a grad transfer because (for all practical intents and purposes) he was over recruited, you don't need a silly replacement rule. You just keep recruiting and use the freed up scholarship to get another 4 or 5 star HS recruit.

If a program is hit by that many grad transfers, they need to take a serious look at program leadership. When you got that many guys leaving, you got a problem there.

I would also add, when you have that many guys getting their degrees and being able to go to grad school, you may be doing something right too.

This is where Bama and Saban take a hit over and above the average program IMO. "changes might even lead to more players going the extra mile to graduate early in order to give themselves the option to grad transfer, especially those who redshirt and could therefore be a grad with two years of eligibility left." Lots of kids with a red shirt year on the books at Bama, perhaps with a year of not much PT or another injury now see their year 3 in the program full of sophs and frosh that are expecting to play. I can see kids in programs with a lot of talent, taking all the online courses and doing whatever they can to graduate transfer out early. Kids that aren't into the books will not be a worry. Anybody know or seen stats of kids that hang around Bama and perhaps OSU for 3 or years with a RS and only start their senior year? I doubt there is much of that at those two programs. Usually at the better programs if a youngster can't get on the field in 3 years, his chances of seeing it very much in year four are doubtful.

85 scholies and how many players on Saturday? If you sign as many 5 stars as Saban does, you will lose some of those guys due to playing time.

Taking graduate courses and being "in graduate school" are two entirely different things. I took graduate classes at UT but wasn't in grad school. That may be different now than it was 35 years ago.
Good point. I think Kennedy graduated in December, so I assumed he's been in grad school this spring. Maybe he's not enrolled in grad school, but still able to take grad courses. Idk.

That was the ramblings of an insane fan. :loco: BECAUSE the GRADUATE transfer is in conference, Bama should benefit with a free pass? Kid’s on your campus for 3 years! Why does it matter if it’s in conference? Dormady wasn’t going to start for us so we get an extra spot for a graduate transfer in our next class if he had gone to Ole Miss instead of TCU? Lot of concession for absolutely no suffering.

I know he's loco. Many Bama fans want the rules to be one way for them, but different for everyone else. That's the down side of Little Nicky.

Yeah, if Dormady had gone somewhere else and we had to face him, I wouldn't be happy if he and his new team kicked our ass, but it's not the end of the world.

And if programs have an issue with players wanting to leave? As I have said before, they might have issues. Instead of telling players the grass is not greener on the other side, maybe you need to tend your own yard better.
