I've been a proponent of most everything CBJ has done to this point. He's recruited extremely well. He's overhauled a Dooley era roster that couldn't make the Div. 2 playoffs if we want to get real about it. He's brought excitement and discipline. He's embraced the tradition and former players..

But, has CBJ shown he can outscheme or outwit an opponent that is equal in talent? We lost at home last year to an inferior UF team. We lost this year to an OU team we had a 17-3 lead on with 8 minutes to go...

Losing or winning this game will go a long way in defining the coaching ability of CBJ.

Thoughts!?..

Feels like it will. I'm afraid somebody is gonna choke. But that's the BFS talking.
battered fan syndrome.

No. It's simply another note in the CBJ song. He's lost some heartbreakers. He's also won some against a genius (OBC). His definition comes into view as the season plays out. Then, he gets next year to solidify that definition.

He's just got to change the ultra conservative nature he's displayed in big games. I'd completely forgotten the taking a knee against mizzou until a caller mentioned it on sport talk today. You just send the team a terrible message when you don't attack and try to score on every possession. We'll see what happens. Unfortunately, with every loss I'm beginning to worry more and more. Last year everyone was like...ya he blew it by playing it safe but wait till he has his own players. Well it didn't matter against Oklahoma. He embarrassed us and his players in that game. I hope he's heard the criticism

Yes for sure. And the scoreboard matters. We'll take a win over sloppy play, but if we get blown out it's gonna put Dave Hart in tough spot. Butch will get next year but he'll be on the hot seat for sure.

We are a better team than last year. OU game is a great example of my point. Now let's buckle on the chin strap and beat the Gators.

He has it in him, ex. 2013 Georgia. He call that game brilliantly. We also attempted a fake punt and fake field goal vs Mizzou last year which worked. (We also blocked 2 xp's and returned a kickoff deep into their territory, so a big gold star for the special teams that game) Back to Butch, that wasn't him who ran out the clock against Mizzou, that was Fooley.

May not get an easier chance to get a win in the swamp. This is the least talented florida team I've seen in a long team. Florida's line is bad plus they don't have matt jones to lean on. They're thin at lb. Last year, Hurd only hard 10 carries in this game while lane had 10 also. That was the deciding factor. Worley had 39 pass attempts. That's why I've been preaching running the ball. I think Hurd and Kamara combine for 40 carries tomorrow and take care of business.

Sure does

No reason we should lose this game.

No excuses will suffice

I agree.

The streak....it being in Gainesville...we are still young and learning to win. None of that is an excuse anymore.

Most think we are the more talented team...

A lot rides on Butch's shoulders tomorrow...

He showed it twice in 2013, vs Georgia in particular and vs SCar as well IMHO. Haven't much seen it since

If Jones doesn't win this one then he will be a 9-3 coach for the rest of his time here. The three losses will be to Bama, UGA, and UF annually. So we would need a new coach...

This!! He found a way to lose it last year, and OU this year in the same fashion. There should no excuse for a loss this year, unless it comes down to coaching...then we know our answer.

I think his best coaching job to date was the '13 UGA game. Totally outmatched and we shoulda, coulda...

Losing to UF last year and OU this year neutralizes that tho imo.

This game is humongous in regards to fan base and players beliefs as well. Jmo

What's so remarkable is how close he was to upsetting UGA last 2 years. And how close he was to UF (last year) an OU (this year). I gotta believe sooner or later we start getting the breaks in some of those types of games.

Hit the nail on the head. On balance, more bad losses overshadow/outweigh those excellent coaching performances his first year. Let's see what he comes up with tomorrow.
