With the way Lane Kiffin is convincing our QB commits not to come to UT, it makes me wonder... Does Kiffin have a specific recruit (Matt Barkley, Aaron Murray) that he already has in the bag? Matt Barkley would seem to fit the most since before he commited to SoCal, UT was very high on his list and since he commited, the person who recruited him, OC/QBC Steve Sarkisian, has left. If Kiffin is all he is knocked up to be than why would he shake off all our QB recruits? He may just be honest in telling them that they're not right, i dont know.....

your thoughts?????

The tonnage of what Lane Kiffin knows about football and recruiting that the Vol Nation does not would stop a team of oxen in its tracks.

Aaron Murray is moving to Athens, he is solid to UGA.
Barkley is solid to USC lifelong fan and will not come here.

I've heard that he's looking at one or two guys in California, Barkley is not one of them...he may have contacted Nunes to see if he can get him to recommit. But those two guys you listed are not coming.

on espn they said he was not that interested in a Q.B. They where more interested in d-line and o-line. propescts. If we come across a big time recruit i think we get him! but hes not going to settle for anyone!

Stanford is the place that Nunes always wanted to go. He did not have an offer before his committal to UT. Very little chance he goes back on his "dream school."

LK knows if you build it they will come (o-line & d-line). To late to get a top notch qb now.... but look out next year !

"Does Lane Kiffin Know Something We Don't?"

Yes he does (well, at least some of us). He knows that he is in way over his head.

And now we all know that you have no idea what you are talking about

Maybe he thinks one of the QB's we have could develop into something special....or at least acceptable. They really had little to no decent guidance. I would venture to say if we had Cutcliffe coaching those QB's, it would have been a night/day difference to what we saw this past season. Maybe he is thinking if he builds up a decent O-Line and actually teaches these guys a non-D1AA offense somebody will shine.

If there was a 4* Pro-Style QB from Tennessee available this year, do you think Kiffin would be interested in giving him a chance?

I would most certainly take a 4* Pro Styler from any state or Canada or Mexico. I would take a 3* over what we have. But seeing as how I am not an NCAA coach or scout, maybe Lane sees something in these guys that we have that we don't. Maybe he thinks there is potential in the resources we have. The QB's we have were solid coming out of high school. And I don't think that ridiculous offensive scheme Clawson brought here should be any indicator of talent at all.

In fact, BJ was a 4* QB from Tennessee.

My tag line has been that it will be BJ or the Beast at QB next year. The Beast would be some superstar QB (to be named) beyond Boyd or Petty. I think there's a reasonable chance that we don't sign a QB this year, but if we do, it will be a great one.
