We all know that the train wreck continues. And UT likely will face a very difficult decision after this season given the way buyout payments keep piling up because of the continued incompetence with hiring coaches.

But, the Schiano fiasco, Currie firing, and Fulmer/Pruitt hirings were an “in your face” to the Haslams by Davenport. Davenport has been sent packing and it will be very easy to pin this Pruitt disaster on Fulmer.

Do we end up with the worst of all worlds? Another Haslam puppet as the AD and another Haslam influenced hire as HFC? Possibly Schiano?

Maybe my fears are unwarranted, but I could see this very power play and it getting worse before it gets better. Talk me off the ledge.

Fulmer is here as long as he wants to be. Until he retired.

Frankly, after the dismal end of last season and today’s debacle, can anyone soberly suggest we would be worse off with Schiano?

Fulmer had to hire somebody. At the time the DC at Bama sounded pretty good.

Many thought Pruitt was a decent hire considering the fiasco of a coaching search. Many even said he will leave us to go to Alabama when Saban retires.

Yes, Fulmer survives because this was the best hire he could have made given the circumstances.
Who else did Fulmer talk with?

For better or for worse, Pruitt is on him.

It might not seem possible at the moment, but this team COULD respond well to this fiasco; we MIGHT make a bowl, and Pruitt could still work out.

But this game certainly should demonstrate that things are much worse for Tennessee as a program than we realized.

Just too much bad happened today to analyze.

I still believe Pruitt was probably the best coach we could have gotten. Plus taking one from Bama never hurts and it worked out at Georgia.

Just wish Pruitt showed more fire and energy[/QUOTE

Besides Cutcliffe who else have we gotten from Bama that was worth anything? Fulmer hired himself whe he got Pruitt. Good recruiter who has no passion no fire and completely uninspiring.

I don’t think it has anything to do with “should” Fulmer be fired. As many point out, this wasn’t his search. He had to pick up the pieces after it had already been mucked up by Currie. He probably did the best he could do under the circumstances.

But, if certain people wanted to us it for a power play, I think it is very possible.
