Does Foster Deserve To Break The Record

you can't tell me he is one of the best we have had. he's not even close. the man is a ball player no doubt, but he is not even close to the talent level we have had in the last 20 years. i was not a big cedric houston fan either but to me they are the same talent level with no break away speed.

I can't find one person on the board that has ever made an argument that he is one of the best we have ever had.

What are you talking about. How can you possibly defend him at this point.

He will break the record, good for him, congrats he was the big fish in a small pond.
The majority of fans arent pleased with him and no one with an inkling of football knowledge will ever mention him as one of the best.
I wasnt pleased with Riggs but looking back i regard him as a better back than foster.

First of all if he breaks the record which is not a given, it doesn't mean he was the best it just means he gained more yards, I know I don't consider him one of the great UT backs record or not.
Second, nobody with an inkling of football knowledge would consider Riggs a better back than Foster.

If he breaks the record I think he needs to thank a lot of people for helping him.

I think he needs to start with Hardesty by saying " I sure am glad that you have been injured these last couple years because you sure would have taken my spot if you were not"
And then he needs to thank Fulmer for being one of the good ol boys and saying "Foster your a senior go get that record buddy". Because in no way is he the best of the backs that we have. And yes that Fumble was on Foster, Crompton put that right in the middle of his stomach, Foster was just getting ready to make a move and was going to swing his arm around like he always does and cut to the outside. He never tucks his elbow like he is supposed to so what would make you think that he had his elbow in the right spot this time????? He is an elusive back for sure but he does to much (sometimes) dancin around in circles. And again he is not the fastest back we have either. It just looks like to me when Hardesty and Creer come into the game they run with more heart and have potential to take one to the house on any given play. Yeah Foster might break one for 30 yards but you can almost bet he wont take one to the house! They should line Foster up and make him a slot reciever and use him for Blocking and catching screen plays!

So he gets no credit for staying healthy in the brutal SEC conference?

. . . because his lack of speed hurts him as a RB but would be just fine as a slot receiver.

Records are meant to be broken. Foster has had the fortunate circumstances of immediate playing time and staying healthy. He will be maligned for his for his lack of leadership as much as his individual stats.

I still remember games against Vandy and ND when it seemed like the rest of the team had given up. Foster was still running as hard as he could.

He has a reputation for fumbles that he will never live down, but in the end if he gets the record he will have earned it.

It wasnt too hard to look good in the 05 season. UT played very hard in that nd game
