I personally wouldn't care if he ever stepped foot on the field again. He's too slow, fumble prone, and hot headed

Yards gained are yards gained. From that standpoint if he gets the record then the deserves it. Will I regard him as one of the best RB's at UT? Heck no.

i agree. we only fumble the ball when he's in there. his fault or not his kharma is terrible. he is not even a top 5 back in tennessee history. we had 5 better backs in the 90's than him let alone our entire history. sub 4-5 speed should be a requirement for tennessee running backs.

No, he doesnt deserve the record. He doesnt even deserve to be in the rotation. He should be behind Creer in the 3rd spot if you want my opinion.

He's not too slow, he's just not the fastest on the team, but the other guys don't have his size.

He's not any more fumble prone than 90% of the guys on div1 rosters. I'm sure McFadden, Bush, etc have lost their fair share of fumbles.

He's done one thing in 3 1/2 years to show any signs of being hot headed.

No--he fumbles too much and has cost UT a bunch of games.
Played a huge role in all three losses this year.

Fumble at UCLA
Stupid penalty early in the game against FL
I put the fumble at AU more on him than Crompton, a good RB handles that ball.

I'm not sure that we've seen enough of Poole to make that decision.

Because Creer and Hardesty are shining cities on the hill when it comes to not fumbling...:ermm:

I've never seen an elbow receive a hand-off.

Creer is three times the RB than AF is. AF is more of a "scat" back, tries to dance to much instead of hitting the hole. The only problem with that is, he is to slow to do that. Creer could torch him and there is no reason why he isnt getting more carries.

Reggie Bush never cost USC as many games has AF has.

Well Hardesty had a fumble when Foster wasn't on the field

i have always liked his attitude and his work ethic. the fact that he came back after being evaluated as a late 2nd rounder,(which i find very hard to believe), is appreciated but just because he's a senior and he came back doesn't mean he needs to be the starting tailback. besides the fumbles, he's slow and can't make a cut without slowing down which makes him slower. we've had several backs his size and heavier that we're faster than him. when is the last time he broke a play didn't get caught? tennessee backs aren't supposed to get caught. maybe i've been spoiled over the last 20 years but other teams now have the backs we used to have. it's sad really.

you see hot-headed and I see passionate. I didn't like the 15yds but thought it was a proper reaction at the time. And are you also blaming him for the fumble at the goalline vs AU?

Jamal Lewis and Chuck Webb were bigger than AF is. I would take those two over him all day long.

Only the national championship, right?

We've lost 5 fumbles from Foster. Not exactly record breaking. You realize that he spent much of his career "dancing" so that he could break tackles from pitiful blocking. I think it was 06, when he had to miss a guy or two just to get to the line.

My God. You can name a couple of Pros that happened to be a little better than one of our guys. Foster is a good back, regardless of your opinion. He's not 400 and change from the record because he's terrible.

That play. The way he got hit from a player blasting him before he could get his head around I'll accept. Also we wouldn't have been in that position if it weren't for a stupid personal foul from guess who AF.

Also to answer the Topic NO. Not at all.

Dude, this conversation is ridiculous. The way AF is playing right now, and in big games there is no possible way that you can sit there and say he is our best tail back. When Montario or Creer come in they bring more intensity and quicker steps. They hit the hole harder, they are quicker and provide a spark to the Offense. Something AF is lacking this year.

i agree with volfanmike. no way is he our best back. i would rather see creer or hardesty get the carries.

he may very well all i'm saying is give someone else with more talent a chance. i know foolmer loves to play a senior if he can but we have more talented backs than foster. i don't dislike the guy and he seems to bring intensity in the bigger games, he just seems to make mistakes when we can't afford to make them.

Fulmer has confirmed that fumble was on Foster. As for being passionate, that is fine. Just don't get 15 yard penalties for it. He got one last year at Kentucky in overtime that we were able to survive. Florida this year, and I believe he has gotten another.

That may have been confirmed by Fulmer, but Ainge did the same thing last year and they put it on Foster as well. The QB has to get the ball into the gut, which didn't happen.
