Does Anyone Think the Vols Will Beat Arkansas?

as of now, i don't see it. their offense will be too good and balanced and our defense will probably be mediocre at best.

if tyler wilson doesn't end up being as good as most people think he will be and/or our defense surprises to the upside (especially at LB), then we have a shot.

Have not seen either team play a down yet so it's hard to tell

My dad is an Arkansas fan and we are taking a road trip from Nashville to Fayetteville. I honestly expect a shootout in this game. We shall see.

Our strength should be our secondary if everything pans out, and their strength is their passing game. if we can play them fairly well on the pass and force them to run it would be interesting. I dont know much about their RB but he seems pretty good from what i hear. and our weakness is obviously our LBs. its almost like pick your poison with them but wilson will have to live up to all the hype. i think we give them a good run, but fall short in the end. :twocents:

I expect Arkansas to have the most productive offense in the SEC this year. I see no way UT can score enough points to keep up.

Our secondary MAY be able to slow down their passing attack. Unfortunately, Knile Davis is going to eat our lunch.

Their offense will be the Best in the SEC this year, that said- I fully believe that if you look at match ups by position we'll be ok. This one is not for the old school guys. It's a perfect new school game, who can scheme out the other team. They have strengths for sure and we will LOSE a shoot-out, however many shoot-outs have been decided by turn overs. I predict that we win with 3 INTs ! Without 3 Turnovers we don't keep up, but thats up to us to create.

Sorry was looking to get to 1380 post mark. Now I can retire with little/no fan fare. Or no horrible remarks...

I am not sold on arky. I think wilson threw the ball well against NC Auburn, but I do not believe secondary is Auburns strong suit. I also noticed Auburn hung what 70 points on ark? Now the only reason I bring up auburn is because that is all anyone is basing their QB play for this year. That is my main arguement and could be way off in left field somewhere. However, I think we are inbetween SC and MSU on their schedule. I would guess depending on how successful MSU is, and how well SC plays them the week before, could really play in our favor. I think we have a legit shot at them. Funny 10 years ago this would of been considered a straight up W.

Well without Kiffin we are going to be extremely lucky to escape Montana, so why are we arguing about Arkansas?

But in all seriousness, I don't think we will beat them, but because of Knile Davis, not the passing game.

Honestly there ISN'T a game we can't win...see Appy St vs Mich, ULM vs Bama, etc. I hardly think we would get the same shock value as any of those games. It will be one of the hardest games we play all year but to say it is unwinnable is absurd. You never know Wilson could be terrible and Davis could have the Bolivian mud butt swamp virus. My point is no game is unwinnable and if you think it is I invite you to spend your Saturday redecorating your bathroom and getting ready for Sunday football because you won't need to check the score.

The true assessments are going to have to wait until after the first conference game. D is a question mark.

we can cover there wide outs for 5 to 6 secs.....they will have 10 to 12 secs to pass the ball.

If UT wins, it will be by Wilcox coming up with a scheme for this game as he has in the past ala Oregon. He built his reputation by this, and my hope he does it again.

How some on here call themselves Vol fans is beyond me. If you are allready saying we have no chance of beating an opponent before the season has even started, I would hate to be around you on game day. I believe Alabama & South Carolina will be real hard games, but every other game is wide open this year. The east is way down & yes we did get the short end of the stick with our west schedule. The big unknown is Mr. Couch if he is as good as advertised our D will not be as bad as everyone on here may think. G.B.O.

Iffy on the road, but people are massively overhyping Arky. Their QB is new and they are replacing almost the entire OLine. The defense blew gorillas last year and likely will again. They have one newcomer on D that they continue to rave about, but it's based o the spring game against a sorry OLine.

They're better than we are, but it isn't the gap being fantasized about here. They have an enormous chance of finishing in the mist disappointing category this year because of the hype and newcomers to the line.

Until Petrino can prove he's capable of having a good defense I'm not sold on Arkansas. Defense is what wins in the SEC. Not saying our defense is going to be the reincarnation of the 85 Bears, but we have coaches who have a history of producing good defenses.

Arkansas likely will be like last year, score points but can't stop anyone. Just like Petrino's teams at Louisville. Arkansas will lose to Alabama and LSU for sure, and will likely lose 1-2 more games between Texas A&M, SC, Miss State and Tennessee.
