With the simple playbook and all the positive around him does anyone else think he will come out like he was suppose to? I know I would be happy with winning 8 games this year.

Yes, I think the Cromton we see this year will be like night and day. More of the liking of the way he looked against LSU in 06

Iwas just thinking about this, I think the system will be better than last year for sure. I think he developes and wins some games for us. So yes, much improved without the Clawfense.

If our coaches are confident enough to give him the starting nod, then I believe he will be fine.

I am absolutely hopeful, but have no reason to expect a 180.

Was this system similar to what he ran in high school? I sure hope we have the same qb that took LSU to the wire.

Phil Steele was on the zone a few days ago and he said the Vols would be one of the most improved teams in the country. He also said that Crompton would be much improved this year and we should be very pleased with his play.

He said we win 8 or 9 games this year.

I hope he is correct...

I hope JC does very well this year and I hope everyone backs him. I don't know of any player who is more dedicated with his allegiance to the Vols. He is totally Orange through and through. I hope he proves the naysayers wrong this year. Go Vols !!!

I sure hope so. I feel bad for the guy. Im glad everyone is slowing getting off his back. I think once he gets his receivers fully healthy he can finally go to work. That all depends on the big uglys though.

This might be a stretch, but remember Eric Ainge 2005?... Opening day 2006 under new OC he looks like Dan Marino and tears Cal apart. Drastic changes are possible.

I think the biggest key to Crompton's success this year will be the running game. Teams did not have to respect our running game last year and therefore were able to load up on the rush and put pressure on him. If we run the ball as I expect to us to this season Crompton can have a great year and surprize everyone.

sorry, but i'm gonna have a wait-n-see approach. I mean I think he'll do better, because there's no damn way he can do worse, but I agree w/ BPV, I don't think he's doing a 180

Better backfield, simplified schemes for him and for the OL, no Death Threats. More confidence in and of himself and the offensive situation in general. More physicality.
I do look for a 180 turn around.

Crompton will be much better this year, or Stephens whoever starts for that matter. This new system should be much more conducive to the qbs. Whe will finish 8-4, win a bowl game for a final record of 9-4. That's my guess.

There was a certain QB at Notre Dame with the initials BQ who had a horrible season and then shocked the nation a year later. So I guess it's possible that Crompton could at least be decent. I just like Stephens more for some season.

The way he looked against LSU? He was 11-24 with a third of his total passing yards coming on one play. Hardly the benchmark for success.

The only 180 I expect from him is to get the ball snapped in time and make clean handoffs.

Crompton didn't play well last year, but let's be honest ... he didn't have a lot of help. Our offense more closely resembled a clown troupe than an SEC-caliber squad. It was a ridiculous comedy of errors and I would place the odds of us being equally as bad this year akin to the odds of being in a train wreck.

So yeah, I think Crompton will be better because we'll be better. I don't see how we could be worse.
