Dobbs to start against Mizzou!

I actually like Worley. It sucks he did not have the coaching to develop. He is another consequence of dooley's incompetence. Having said that, Dobbs adds a dimension to the offense that Mizzou will find difficult to deal with. Dobbs gives us the best chance to win.

From what I saw of Dobbs, he just seems so much more quicker on his decisions, and releasing the ball. Not to mention he seems to be able to run very well also. I thought the offense seemed to flow much smoother when he was out there. I think he will be an excellent QB once he gets more experience, and maybe adds a little weight.

but, I haven't seen Dobbs make a tackle yet..... unlike Worley.

I do hope all who wear the Orange are healthy & happy.

GBO

seems kinda weird that the decision is already made since bUTch said the decision would be made after this week's practice

He has to say the right things and be political. He couldn't come out and say, 'thanks Justin you're out, the freshman is in.' All about keeping everyone's feeling in check.

I agree and he seems to spin the ball better, with more accuracy and velocity. He actually looks like a spread read option QB! Definitely a throw first guy but looks like he is a 4.6 guy, which we need a fast QB running the read option effectively.

I don't think he's a burner by any stretch of the imagination, probably not even a 4.6. But again, you don't have to be Marcus Mariota to pick up a first down with your legs every now and then, which is all this offense really asks. All you have to do is see the hole and run for it, then be smart about knowing when to slide down (something JD learned about firsthand from an Alabama LB last game). Even Worley can do it when he wants. All that matters is that there's a threat to. I agree that he looks very promising through the air.

Peterman is probably next up if he is healthy enough.

5 yards passing 1st half of UF game. How bad would Dobbs have to do to be yanked out of the game for this to happen? Knowing what CBJ has said in pressers he is not going to be too trigger happy of replacing QBs unless there is a total meltdown (ie, 1st half of UF game!) Dobbs will start and finish the game.

I'm excited to see Dobbs play a full game, win or lose. I loved his poise. Something about Worley kinda made me feel like he never really had much confidence in himself, and it kind of infected the rest of the offense. He seemed to play tight and scared most of the time, and that is where so much of the inconsistency was coming from. Dobbs did not look like a freshman taking his first snaps,he looked like he had been there and was in total control, which I found very impressive. Judging from the one deep pass he threw he has enormous arm strength for an 18 year old kid,and his release is as fast as any I have seen. Here's to a Bray vs Memphis like coming out party for Dobbs vs Mizzou.......Go Vols!!

This is the one thing that stuck out for me. Even after getting hammered by the linebacker on one of his runs...he got up as if nothing had happened and went right back at it. He never appeared rattled or nervous to me.

I can say something that most of you will not be able to say... I will be in attendance for Dobbs first start!

There is an old cliche though that applies here... Be careful what you wish for... you just might get it.

I really like Dobbs' skill set. I like smart guys ALOT. I am very excited to see him in action....

BUT the realist in me demands that I am prepared for the worst too. What if the "change" some of you have been clamouring for doesn't go as you hoped? What if things get real bad, real quick?

Worley did more good things than many of you would ever admit. It is my sincere hope that Dobbs takes a stranglehold on the job and never lets it go... but there is a significant chance that he won't and this will turn into a big mess.

And for some of you.... will you turn on Dobbs as your new scape goat?

I really, really wish I didn't have to question whether the fans here would support the players. Unfortunately, that's not uniformly the case.

Our OL is way better than a lot of teams on PAPER, unfortunately games aren't won on paper.

it seems to me,that the O line has taken a step backwards this year, there not pass blocking no where as good as they did last year of course the run blocking is better, but not by a whole lot,i think the backs are hitting the holes better this year, making it look better than it actually is

It's not just about this game. He may struggle. It's not like we haven't struggled in games from the position multiple times this year. It's about the future.
Our team ceiling was/is limited with Worley simply because Butch brought a successful system and offense here that isn't a good match. Dobbs' was his handpicked guy. His release and the way the ball comes out was different last week. The announcer sees the release on the long ball and it surprised him because the ball didn't look like it weighed 5 lbs. He looks more mobile, which is what many of us have been asking for from the qb position for many, many years. He's also a true freshman and most believe our ceiling for the future just increased, regardless if it's Dobbs or Ferg.
To expect a freshman to go into a top 10 team on the road in the SEC and get a W in his first start is a stretch. I simply like our chances now better than I did before. If he doesn't turn the ball over, we will get more out of the position and will extend some drives rather than putting our worn out, slow and thin D back out there again as we make Palardy more nfl money.

If Dobbs has 50+ yds rushing on legit read carries.... UT wins. Dobbs achieving that stat will also lead to Neal having 100+.

Mizzou has the nastiest pass rush in the SEC. It's one of the reasons they lead the SEC in picks. UT has to keep them off balance...

Also opens up the intermediate passing game... similar to what teams do to AJ.

I liked how the announcers during the Alabama game kept talking about how Dobbs was hitting his receivers right between the numbers. All we need now is for them to catch his passes.
