I am tired of this Hurd talk....lets talk about the real problem...

Last 3 games from Dobbs...

TAM - 28/47 398 8.5 1 2 44.0 2 Fum
AL- 16/27 92 3.4 0 1 3.7
SC- 12/26 161 6.2 1 2 11.3 1 Fum

56/100 651 2 5 3

5 int's and 3 fum = 8 TO's by your senior QB

This is why we aren't winning games. This is unacceptable even in high school. Why arent questions being asked of CBJ on why is Dobbs playing like crap. The facts/stats don't lie and this is why we are in the mess we are in. Im sorry i like Dobbs and i appreciate the way he represents TN on/off the field but lets face it if this is all he can give us then we need to look at the next man up. QD or SJ cant be any worse than this. I say lets get some new blood in at QB or at least open the job up and maybe that will light a fire under Dobbs. We have to correct this or we may drop another game this year!!

I don't think there's anyone who doesn't appreciate what Dobbs has accomplished here, but his career as a qb should be over. I'm sure he wants what's best for this team and that is for him to take the bench. At this point, Butch can hang most of his shortcomings on Dobbs'...that time should be over.

Also seems like throughout his career, they are turnovers at the very worst time and when the game hangs in the balance. It's not even like he is forcing a play. He just heaves in the general direction hoping someone he knows will catch it. He doesn't seem to do it throughout the game. It's like you're allowed one bonehead play per game and he saves it until the end.

Dobbs is not a pocket passer...Jones is trying to make him one..when are you guys going to wake up and realize the root cause of all of these problems..he is trying to make a square peg fit into a round hole...and is too hard headed and arrogant to admit he is wrong..

He had a bad game. All qbs have them. Bama was injuries and conservative play calling. A&M was a good game. We should have won.

Dobbs has been better in camp, practice, and games than Dormady and Jones. Why would they do better vs SEC teams? Do people not want to try for 9-3?

You try them because it literally can't get any worse... Like Dobbs is currently at his floor. We literally can't have anything worse than what we have now.

Bench Dobb against Tenn Tch..send a message to him, and insert Dormandy, play him before he transfers next season..
Season is shot all to heck now anyway.

"It can't get any worse"...really? I'd say losing any of these last 4 games is worse. We won't be in the Championship game but 10-3 is still a lot to play for. And Butch has never tried to make a pocket passer out of Dobbs that I've seen. Until recently he could throw good enough with a decent running game to be successful. He had an awful game against Bama and SC, otherwise he has been about what we thought he was. The o line is the biggest problem With our offense.

Finally a thread that talks about the real problem with this team. Let's start a new QB for this weekend. Even if we lose, does it matter. It won't affect our SEC rankings and we aren't going to the playoffs anyway

Exactly. His progression should be: Is #1 receiver open? Nope. #2? Nope. Tuck and run. Or... Is #1 receiver open? Nope. Tuck and run. He's such an explosive runner, it's ridiculous to have him sitting back scanning the field. How can it be better to dump off a 2 yard pass than to have your most elusive runner in open field?

He doesn't even scan the field. He just sits there.

Agree with giving Dormady the start this weekend but, Dobbs should be brought in on this, and given starts against MO, KY, AND VANDY. Need to work with team to make team and future play decisions.

I just dont understand why Butch want give Dormady or Jones a shot at starting a game! Dobbs has been awful! What does this tell QB recruits who are looking at TN. No matter how bad a QB plays, if hes the QB that Butch likes, he will never bench him to give another guy a shot at it!

Defenses are just selling out for the run and short passes. Opponents have ZERO worry that Dobbs is going to beat them over the top. ZERO. Without that threat, it makes everything more difficult for an already struggling offense.

He doesn't have to be a prolific "pocket passer." But, he has to be able to throw from the pocket at least on occasion. He's the freaking quarterback. He has to be able to throw the football.

Dobbs has, in all likelihood, 5 games remaining in his college career. He's not getting benched.

We have had several qbs over the last decades with worse performances than Sat. It can get a lot worse. You must have just started watching the Vols if you think it can't get any worse.

I'm not a quitter and prefer to play the qb that gives us the best chance. Not play the backup who gets beat in camp and practice and risk going winless the rest of the year.

I don't think the problem with Dobbs is a matter of motivation. I think he is a good, smart kid who just doesn't have the chops

Pretty much this.

I mean yeah, his passing mostly sucks, but benching him now would just be stupid. It's not like we have any more "big" games left sans maybe a decent bowl if we win out. Let the kid go out with some dignity. He accomplished a lot here whether that's clear to the fan base right now or not.
