Dobbs excelled as a backup where he was most likely relied on to do what he does in a short term need. React & create. When in situations like Minn, where it extended into longer term assignments due to injury, he faded after a couple games. Too much time having to react & create under Butch and not enough opportunity to develop NFL starter skill set going in. Had the talent, but could never establish a starter role for the long haul. But, he's not unique in those scenarios either. He likely would excel at coaching QB's thru film work, and possibly a QB coach or some on-field capacity.Agree. And that's where I think his life may lead him now. He's played lots of places and probably knows a lot of NFL front office guys and coaches.
He's intelligent and has proven he can pick up an offense quickly if needed. He'd probably be an asset to any team needing someone implement an offense with a young QB or study defenses.
