Doak Walker…Sampson Not a Finalist

I would take Sampson over any of those guys. If those backs had gone through the defenses Sampson did they would not have his numbers. Jeanty would have been beat up and on the bench a month ago.

I'm assuming these awards are the ones that ESPN hands out? The same ESPN HQ in CT. The sane ESPN in charge of CFP, who routinely coddles the BG10, and same ESPN who went through layoffs last year?

Tennessee, for some reason is going to have to earn that National respect back, from pretender to contender. It's ridiculous that is case. Meatchicken could have an abysmal year and still be in favor in Bristol.

The admiration and respect follows TV markets. It's good for business, which is what this now is.

Perhaps TN needs to market itself better? it's sad that a team that plays and wins in best conference had to work just that much harder, bc of its geographic location.

LFG. Samspon gonna have a party on Sat. Maybe he can change the narrative.

As idiotic is is that Sampson is not a Doak Walker finalist, there was a far greater snub today. Travis Hunter was not named a finalist for the Jim Thorpe award. Deion was not pleased. He says Hunter can have his Jim Thorpe award and goes on a tirade about the integrity of the award being lost.

They know Hunter is winning the Heistman, so they are spreading the love. Isn't that obvious? Even to Deion?

This is the result of people voting on a ballet who do not actually watch college football. I figured Jeanty would be on there, but i couldnt tell ya who the other two RBs are.

Maholena got robbed out of the OUTLAND trophy back in 2003 or 2004 when the OT from Okla won it so this **** ain't surprising .....

The same Oregon that struggled mightily with Wisconsin? The same Wisconsin that a 3-loss Alabama beat by like 30 something points on the road?
Sampson didn’t break 80 on UTEP.

I know it sounds moronic to say Sampson hasn’t had a good year because he didn’t break 80 against UTEP. It’s almost as dumb as you arguing Ashton Jeanty is no good because he broke 180 against Oregon.

That just makes it sound like you’re the one who doesn’t actually watch college football. Hell, Tennessee played against one of the guys last year.

EXCELENT POINT !!!

MOST, if not all, of these awards are very much 'what have you done lately'.
While Sampson set the world on fire erly on, he's kind of dropped off a little the last couple of games...some of that is coach getting Lewis and others in the rotation and some of that is the O Line issues.

It’s not so dumb whenever you see Sampson only had 11 carries at a 7 yards per carry clip. Give him 30 carries like they are giving Jeanty and he would have had a 200 yard game. It’s not that difficult to comprehend. The grind of a SEC season is on another universe compared to playing in the Mountain West and good coaches like Heupel know when to lessen the workload for the ultimate prize. Boise ain’t winning 💩 so their coach doesn’t give a damn about running their players into the ground.

Not an excellent point. Heupel failed his workload back to 11 carries vs a scrub team. The types of teams Boise has been struggling with. Whenever your team sucks of course you are going to get 30 carries per game vs the likes of Hawaii, Sand Diego State, San Jose State. Like damn, I wish we played teams like that. We would never give up a point and win by 60 every week. Congrats on Jeanty for padding those stats vs the sisters of the blind.

I mean Boise is going to the playoff as long as they win out. In fact they’ll probably be playing after we are eliminated. Jeanty has 9 games this year that would be Sampson’s career high. I’m sorry, but playing against Kentucky and Arkansas and Miss State doesn’t mean Sampson has had a better year than Jeanty. Even if you want to say Jeanty’s numbers would be 40% worse in the SEC, he’d be right on par with Sampson.

You just sound dumb by trying to act like anyone could do what Jeanty is doing and that no one has ever had to face the grind that Sampson is facing. We have been downright blessed to have an easy schedule this year by facing 6 of the 7 worst teams in the SEC.

And Jeanty isn’t blessed playing the vaunted Mountain West? You’re an idiot 🤣

The more I post here, the more obvious it becomes that most of you don’t watch any football outside of the Vols and don’t really know what you’re watching even when you watch them. Further, I’d venture to guess over half the board has never read a book that had chapters in it.

5 year running recruiting cycle has ALL 16 SEC teams within the top 45. The only two outside the top 30 are Missouri and Vanderbilt. Not a single Mountain West team in the top 50. Hell, there’s not even a single Group of 5 team in the top 50. Whenever Boise gets smacked by Ohio State or whoever the 5 seed will be I’ll come back here laughing my ass off 🤣

The more you post here the more obvious it becomes that you make it more miserable. Further, I’d venture to guess you have no fulfillment in life and come here to make everyone else’s life as miserable as yours.

It speaks volumes that you think someone saying that a guy who plays football for a team you don’t root for is having an equal or greater year than a guy who plays football for the team you do root for is an attempt to make you miserable.
