Saw two mock drafts this morning (Tuesday) that had Ament 12 and 16. It's based on "fit," not talent level.

I wonder if Juke is going to decide on whether to go pro based on whether Ament chooses to stay in the draft. We could end up with both of them or neither of them that way.

Nate ain't coming back now. Hell, Barnes is going to help him get ready for his workouts with the NBA. It will be nice if Juke signs with us, but not imperative. We're already better on the perimeter than we were this past season. Add another quality big and we're set

Well, if he's entering the NBA draft, I hope the Packers get him. Chad Clifton and Reggie White were Vol Packers...!!!!!!!!!!

I know Nate ament is pretty much going all in on this draft process, but seems his stock seems be slipping even more , per CBS latest. They have Nate going 15th pick to Chicago bulls. Fwiw

And there are no consumers without a winning program. A coach's job is to build a winning program that reflects well on the university, no more and no less. More consumers and bigger business will follow.

Everything is in the eye of the beholder. I've seen some mocks that had him going in the top ten. But the one that got my attention after the lottery is The Athletic's:

I think the chances he doesn’t go in the lottery are very remote. I have seen quite a few mock drafts during the combine today that have him around 8-10 right now.

Didn’t realize until a couple of days ago that Jimmy Haslam now has a large minority interest in the Bucks. Makes sense if they take Ament at 10.

I just don’t agree with any mock that has Quaintance, Lopez, or Sturtz over him.

Do the Browns have a history of recruiting Tennessee players? I know of one, but not sure that’s enough to assume they’ll recruit anyone because they went to UT.

I've seen several of those mocks as well. The difference is that The Athletic's mock comes from Hollinger and Vecenie, who are a lot more plugged in. Hollinger ranked Ament 11th on his personal board the other day and offered these thoughts:

"A true wing at 6-10 who can handle the ball and shoot, Ament fits the most desired skill archetype, which pushes his status ahead of a few other one-and-dones who arguably had better college seasons. He also didn’t get to show his best at the scout-packed conference tournaments and NCAA rounds, because he was gutting his way through a late-season ankle sprain.

The biggest impact of Ament’s size was on the heaps of fouls he drew. Despite a thin frame and limited explosion he averaged 14.3 free-throw attempts per 100 possessions in conference games, the most of any prospect in this year’s draft cycle. He likes to get into slow Euro steps around the basket, and if he doesn’t draw a foul, he struggles to finish (just 44.9 percent on 2s in SEC games – yikes!). But he also didn’t get much help from Tennessee’s constipated spacing that usually had two non-shooting bigs clogging the paint on his drives. Improving his left hand around the basket would also help.

As a shooter, Ament has good footwork for his size catching on the move and shooting but didn’t take a huge volume of 3s and made 33.3 percent for the season and 79.0 percent from the line. Defensively, the story is similar; he had low rates of blocks and steals and mostly let his length do the work, although he held up on the glass (11.6 percent rebound rate in conference games).

As an Atlantan, I can’t help but see a lot of Zaccharie Risacher in Ament’s game; the key difference is that Ament has a lot more on-ball juice for self-creating shots. I had Risacher slotted 13th in the 2024 draft and see Ament similarly, although I’m a bit rosier on Ament — a late lottery pick with plus starter upside if his outside shooting develops."

I suspect that the Bucks will wind up picking at least twice in the top ten after the Giannis trade. They probably view this draft as the way to supercharge a rebuild, which is an imperative since they have cap problems and no draft picks for ages. They could probably convince themselves that Ament could grow into a Giannis kind of force after a while.

Right now, I think OKC, Milwaukee, and Dallas are his best hopes to remain in the lottery.

I don’t know, but it makes it more likely than not. That 10 pick is relevant. They obviously wouldn’t take him if they were top 7-8.

Hollinger is amongst the most credentialed people when it comes to player evaluations. So I’d say Ament probably a lottery lock at this point.

I put Nate’s name in X last night to see what was going on. Hope he goes high and wish him the best. Fans don’t know much in general but he doesn’t have a lot of nba fans who want their team to pick him in first round right now.

He’s going to be a much better nba player than college in my opinion. Probably not immediately, but the potential is there
