Do You Honestly Agree With The #15 Ranking?

I think UT will finish the season ranked higher then the preseason ranking for the first time in a long time.

Since I am a new member I'll jump right in with my opinion on this one. I am fine with it. I think we are at the perfect spot. Some will overlook us, some will not. We will have to keep focused to move up and be where we want to be come December though.

I think UT should be ranked higher. I see them beating UF and UGA. Im glad most all of the teams we (South Carolina) play will be ranked ahead of us this preseason. Its more fun to knock them down....and its much easier to play the underdog role.

You know you've been on this board too much when you start playing the underdog card. :)

I think it's a good spot to be ranked. It is high enough where, if we make a serious run this year, we will be in the hunt but not high enough where the young guys forget to work to the top.

no, no, no..........WE are always much better as the underdog. that's our thing........:)

and i hope you're right about GA and FL......that would do nicelly for me.

the ranking is probably close to right......maybe a tad too high imo.

i thought we'd come in around 17 or 18.

i just spit diet coke all over my keyboard........:eek:lol:

Well, he left the door open ...

Actually, I have no idea where to put Florida. The team is a complete flip flop from last year in that the offense should be light years better, the defense considerably weaker. I'm optimistic and of course very excited to see the full spread-option and whether it will work, Tebow, Harvin, etc., etc. But until we get a half dozen games under our belt, who truly knows whether the Gators will be contenders this year?

Fla. has a unproven QB and lost most of their D.

Why do people keep saying this? It is simply untrue. He took plenty of snaps last year and many of those in critical game situations. He threw the ball effectively, even against SEC competition. We know he's competitive in this league.

the losses on defense are too much to overlook, having said that that means FL is probably a top 10 team (8-10) and not a top 5 team.......(not #3)......

FL will probably end up 10-2 at worst, i'll be shocked if it's any worse than that.
there are 3 games that i would have question marks against right now if i were a FL fan......TN, Aub and LSU. I think Aub won't be as good as last year, nor will there be a fluke play to lose the game for you and it's in Gainesville.

LSU is at LSU and i think they have the goods to beat FL this year......there won't be 5-6 turnovers leading to easy points this season.

and TN.....well, i'm a TN fan. but honestly, if i were a FL fan, i'd have to expect to win that game at home.

you get SC at home as well as FSU, who, while might be better, isn't your big brother's FSU these days.

so i'll say 10-2 with a loss at LSU and one more of the other three mentioned.......

notice i left GA off this list.

While I don't agree he will be a bust, to say he threw effectively is not really true. 22/33 for 358 is a game line for some QB's, not a season.

Thats all fine and dandy, but Tebow has not had to manage an entire game yet. I will remain un-swayed in the opinion that Tebow IS unproven until I see him win some games by himself without Crissy Leak behing him.

Because a one headed monster is more predictable than a 2-headed monster.

I like the ranking, but would say that it's a tad generous, if anything. We got beat by a crappy Penn State squad in a disappointing bowl to end last season, took an absolute thumping from Arkansas, have a very suspect OL and a yet-to-be determined DL, and have a whole new, and young, corps of receivers. Not being negative, just realistic. Of course, we return a great defensive backfield, a senior QB, and (hopefully) a stable of healthy tailbacks and some nice TE's.

As for Florida. . . .sorry, but how can you down them until somebody beats them? Sure, they've lost a bunch of kids (esp. on D), but there is plenty of talent waiting for a chance to step up. Tebow was unstoppable last year, albeit in limited action. I can't believe we are making a big deal out of the QB position when LEAK was the prior signal-caller. People really don't see Tebow as an improvement??? I'll tell you this: you won't catch me calling him "Chrissy." Meyer now has the horses to run his O, and this year will be the proving ground for whether or not it's just the dog and pony show that so many around the SEC are claiming.

Oh, and vij: lose the capitalizing of every first word, please?

I understand that, but he played in all 14 games last season and had the ball in his hands several times where the outcome was in doubt. My only point is that I'm not buying into the notion that he might be a flop due to inexperience under pressure.

Put it this way: If he can't throw it, he can't throw it. I would be surprised if that were the case, but like you said its only 33 attempts. What I'm saying is that he is composed and a winner and talented. No reason to think he won't peform.
