With the state of our team do we feel we
1. should win
2. might win
3. get beat
Just trying to get a feel for the thinking of other Vol fans because I dont know how to evaluate our team or chances.

every SEC game on the schedule is a toss up imo. each team we play presents a match up that should/would/could give us problems. we wont' lose all of them, and we won't win all of them. but the GA game specifically is one that i think we should win. for one, we have a week off, so two weeks to prepare. we are relatively healthy thus far.

GA on the other hand had a big physical game with BAma, and has Ole miss prior to coming to knoxville. maybe a little banged up?

and it's in knoxville, not that that has mattered much lately for the GA/TN game as the road team has won the last 4.

#4, time to put up or shut up for the 07 season, Phil has to realize the heat a loss to UGA will bring

Offense will score points. Defense will let points get scored. Doesn't look good for the Vols.

I agree with Jake, SEC games are most always a coin flip...I think we pull out the win.

I think from this point on we have as much or more talent than any team remaining on our schedule. That is something we could not say against Cal or UF. That means we have a chance in the UGA game. But, again our defense is going to have a improve in the next two weeks. We HAVE to get better play from a group of LB's that are talented but not producing. We will score a healthy amount of points on UGA. That will happen. How many will UGA score is the problem. I think we will be able to get some pressure on QB and our secondary should be able to play decent against their throwing attack. DT and LB better learn to plug a gap in the running game and tackle somebody though.

deductive logic:

at the beginning of the season, we were expected to contend (if not win) the east.

this is a must win game for Tenn if we're to have ANY chance whatsoever of winning the east.

therefore, i expect tenn to win this game.

It doesn't look good for the Vols. UGA is quite capable of putting points on the board. Like the UF game, our only hope is that the Offense will score relentlessly.

Our only saving grace on the defensive side of the ball is that Matt Stafford is somewhat of an immobile QB and the UGA WR talent pool is somewhat shallow.

The Bad News: We will still give up huge plays in the secondary. There's also a kid they call Mareno in the UGA backfield.

here's the problem....we still have our defense.

GA has good RB's and Stafford is gaining confidence. they still need a WR to step up. but i think they have to look at our D as an opportunity. Offensively, we'll match up fine with GA's defense i think.

MSU...their D is pretty good, but their offense is just bad. i'd have to think we can outscore them. turnover ratio in that game will be important.

@Bama...offensively, they have enough to give us problems. DJ Hall is good. they have apparently found some running backs and JPW is coming on nicely. again, they should be able score points on us. defensively, that game being at Bama they will be all jacked up for that one. we will have to take the wind out of thier sails pretty early, cause i expect Bama to really try and jump on us early in that game, and if they do, they have enough offense to win that game.

SC...corey Boyd. our defense. ugh. their Defense may be the best defesne we will face up to this point. Special teams will be a big factor in this game, advantage SC. good defense, with a good running game is enough to beat this TN defense. a win in this game probably requires us being up by 2-3 scores at some point to take them out of their offensive game plan.

Ark...Darren McFadden and Felix Jones. that's all i can say at this point. those two against our d scare the crap out of me.

Vandy.......Earl Bennet will determine VAndy's fate in that game.

KY. shoot out. i expect lots of points in this game, and KY at home, sr day....intangibles, depending on how the rest of KY's season has gone to this point, could be on their side.

so like i said, each game presents something that should/would/could give us problems.

Get beat. Our offense will keep us in it until a punt return for a TD breaks the game open for UGA.

You'll have the same people on here that said we'd lose to Arky St. saying we'll lose to UGA. Big shocker.

I for one, believe we'll win. It'll be a tough close game - as it should be. But the true evaluation on our team is still out. We played two of the better teams in college football on the road for our two loses. We've played two lower tiered opponents hat home and won seach by three scores.

The stats for our D look bad - and quite frankly our D looked bad against Cal and UF. But I'm putting more stock in those being two really good offenses more than our D being as bad as it's looked.

Go Vols - beat UGA - again.

huh? not taking anything away from Cal or FL, cause they are two of the better teams in the land, but just the sheer number of missed tackles we've had, in all 4 games, the number of times LB's or DB's being out of position, in all 4 games, should be enough to warrant some concern for any Vol fan.

the defense is not very good IE.

Hey Jake - I'm just trying to be positive here. It's getting real hard, but I'm tryin like heck.

Oh, and I agree about the bad part. Look at my sentence right before the one you bolded.

Once again Papa Phil will learn the 3 doesn't equal 7.

We'll trade field goals for touchdawns and Georgia will win pretty easy. Our only hope is that Ainge can put 50 points on the board!

i know, i read it. the truth though is that our D has looked bad against all 4 teams. the only half that the D actually looked competent was the 2nd against USM. the other 14 quarters they've played, they've not been very good, and it's a result of not being very good, not just who they played in 8 of those quarters.

and you're not the only one who's trying like heck, i'm sure.
