With a lot of posts saying Tennessee doesn't have the talent to compete for a couple of years I decided to check and see what kind of players we have on our team for Kiffin to work with.

Chris Walker 4*
Gerald Williams 4*

SOPH:
BJ Coleman 4*
Chris Donald 5* Top 100 #1 MLB
Donald Langley 4*
Ahmad Paige 4*

Frosh:
EJ Abrams-Ward 4*
Aaron Douglas 4*
Marlon Walls 4* Top 50(Prep)
Jerod Askew 4* Top 100
Eric Gordon 4*
DJ Hunter 4*
David Oku 4* Top 100 #1 APB
Jer'on Stokes 4* Top 100

Doesn't include some of the sleeper players we've had over the years such as Dennis Rogan, Jeff Cottam, Vlad Richard, Dan Williams, Kevin Cooper, and Denarius Moore.

31/85 scholarship players are 4* or 5*.

We will look like a completely different team once the lineman and LB's actually have a strength and conditioning program.

Yes, we have talent. Talent was not the issue. Kiffin may upgrade the talent some, but he's starting off with a good amount of talent and has enough talent on board to be successful early.

fyi, Malcolm Rawls plays for another school, Memphis perhaps..........he was either kicked off the team, or never made it to campus, years ago.......

otherwise, interesting post.........don't know if the star thing is as important as you think, but we definitely have more talent than Foolmer and Claw-daddy could coach.........

what losses do you think we'll have? i have us losing two...florida and alabama.

Well, we don't know how good our team will be next year. I could see us losing to UF, Aub, UGA, and Bama. But if some of those teams big stars leave then everything is up in the air.

I thought I remembered him transferring, but couldn't remember if it was him or another OL.

i just don't see us losing to uga or ga...richt has become the fulmer of uga, can't win the big game, plus he's keeping the dc there. we have the talent i believe to only lose to fl and bama, but, also, bama will have a new qb next year, that game will probably be low scoring, but also what if tebow goes pro?

The talent on Rocky Top has always been there. Developing and getting the most out of the players has been a big dissappointment for several years now. Im certain we all hope that this breath of fresh air with the coaching changes will be an upgrade in that department.

That's what I'm saying. The top teams will possibly lose a lot of their productive players next year. I have a list somewhere for UT, UF, Bama, UGA, and Aub.

i just think that next year is going to surprise everyone. besides winning the expected ones, we should win an unexpected game, which did happen against uga a couple of years ago, but rally hasn't happened much this decade. we have talent, it just developing it. plus now we got the strength coach from sc, the o line should be ready, and with him and papa kiffin coming in, you know our defense is not going to be any worse, but possibly better. clk will not put up with the bs fulmer did, and the players know that.

Yes the country club days are over and the athletes who come here to work hard and be the best and want to play with the best are going to love it...the other ones will have to get with the program or leave. There will be some whining and possible player losses over the next two years just like Alabama until the final team is full of leather necks and nail eaters with big motors.

He did transfer to Memphis, for some reason I thought it was Darius Myers.

On paper.
Development of these players is in question, to this point.

That's been one of the main problems. We can bring in top talent, but developing it was one of our weak points. We've had the talent to compete the last few years, but never did anything with it. Hopefully that changes.

I think could win the SEC East with one loss if:

The team buys into Kiffin's system
A qb steps up
Tebow goes pro
Moreno goes pro

i agree with the first and second, but moreno or uga doesn't bother me, and moreno will probably be wondering where berry is when he is in the back field. he won't ever forget that hit.

I am not sure about winning the SEC, but I think we'll be much better with all the points you listed except I feel Stafford going pro will hurt jawja more than Moreno. Without him, teams can stop Moreno more easily.

As far as the Foolmer era goes, here is my evaluation:

Fulmer: A-
His record speaks for itself
He won a Ntl. Championship

His biggest mistakes were keeping Randy Sanders too long, playing Rick Clauson at qb, hiring Clawson, not being a disciplinarian, no special teams coaching, and lack of emotion.

If he showed half as much emotion on the sideline as he did at his going away press conference, he would still be here.

His staff was not bad. Chavis is a very good DC. He just doesn't like to hit the recruiting trail but he puts LB's in the NFL. Cutcliffe was the reason we won a Ntl. Title.
