We have the talent to be a top 5 team. Back in '98 a monkey could have coached that talent to the NC. It is clear that our problem is coaching and lack of discipline

I agree with the majority...we're not among the nation's 5 most talented teams.

There's definitely some talent in Knoxville. Just not as much as you'll find in Baton Rouge, Gainesville, LA, Norman, and Austin.

No.

Well, you know, I say that. But I have to confess I don't really know. Not like I'm any sort of expert on it. What I can say is that you looked a lot slower than us, out of shape, and just plain not as athletic as the Gators. And the difference wasn't close. It was big, especially in terms of your defense versus our WRs.

That Florida's WRS were faster was not necessarily totally unexpected, though the degree of difference was surprising. What really surprised me was Florida's defensive line and secondary able to completely shut down the UT running game. I didn't see that as much the RB's fault, more the UT offensive line not being able to deal with Florida's speed and strength.

Spurrier used to comment all the time that he had no trouble selling the skill players on coming to Florida so as to display their abilities to NFL scouts. It was the linemen that were the key and he had to work hard to convince them that, notwithstanding the fact that his system was not exactly comparable to NFL playbooks, he could turn them into pros.

My suspicion is that UT has no problem convincing some stout RBs to come to school there. But I would have thought as well that the offensive line players in particular would be higher caliber precisely because UT's offense is much more similar to an NFL scheme than has been Florida's.
I agree. And with CPF's background as a player, I would expect the o-line to always be a bright spot.

I like CPF and the other coaches. But my glass is one sip away from needing a refill.

Yes we do have top 5 talent it is just not being coached up enough, particularly on the lines.

As far as elite players I think that Meachem was an elite player for us last year.

There is no way we have Top 5 talent. I am glad that you took the theme of this thread as an opportunity to jab at the coaches. Did not see that coming at all. Are the coaches 'coaching 'em up' very well? Sure does not look like it. But, that does not change the fact that we do not have Top 5 talent right now.

Agree Vols DO NOT have top 5 talent......several of the 4* players from the 05/06 recruiting class not with the program...i.e.Shelly, Cox, Henderson, Williams..
