Maybe you want to check out some of the recruiting or transfer discussion threads where this topic has been discussed many many times over not only the past week or two but also months.

Short answer, we likely can’t sign 2 and definitely not 3 PG’s, 1 will be the goal.

I agree w OP that we must find a quality point guard in the portal instead of forcing a two guard playing point. However, we need to use our 2nd open scholarship on a post player. If someone hits the portal or Phillips leaves for NBA (IDK if he will but he will test waters), then I would take a point forward or 2 who can slash to the rim.

Dilione can handle PG for 15 minutes a game, definitely a scoring PG. He's has the handles and is so smooth with the ball and how he sets up the defense with change of speeds, angles and a knack, getting into open spaces. But, we definitely need at least one true PG in the portal, imo. Freddie Dilione is going to be "The Truth"

Maybe Huepel has a cornerback or a free safety that is good with the ball, sees the court very well, can make exvellent passes with tne ball and could step in and help out along the way

Is there a really true point guard anymore most are combo guards.ZZ played off the ball some and so did Kennedy last year.A real point guard is pass first and these days that is hard to find even in NBA ,Chris Paul is a dying bread

They really need to be paired with a freakish center to create much of an advantage. They are often undersized and create a disadvantage on defense (since zones are rarely used anymore). ZZ is a bit different as he holds his own on D despite being undersized. But when you have a competent 7 footer, a true PG can enhance their offensive output. By the time Aidoo and ZZ are seniors they could be troublesome pair for opponents to defend.

Wish we didn't have to wait until our 7 footers get to be seniors. Why can't the basketball gods give us a center like UConn's freshman Donovan Clingan. What a different offensive look we'd have with a post like that.

I think that they would have been special as juniors, but ZZ’s injury changed that timeline.

Hopefully we have DB’s among the new guys that have “court vision”. Last year they couldn’t even get them to look back for the ball in coverage.!

It's obvious that we have room for not one, but two more PG's. We don't have even one right now. We are missing ZZ terribly. This should be the #1 recruiting need. Heck! Sign 3 if you can find them.
We probably will have 2 spots for anyone in the transfer portal. One of these spots has to be for a true PG and preferably will walk in the door and start. We need a C/PF for the other spot IMO.

Dilione supposedly is more of a combo, as is BJ Edwards. Mashack is earning that role as a combo too, to his credit.

I think Barnes may use Edwards tomorrow afternoon for a few minutes if Vescovi and Key and Mashack encounter foul trouble against Duke.

Duke will also look to disrupt Vescovi by shadowing him wherever he goes.
