I do miss the old throw backs on the away jersey in the early mid 70 s…. That little patch of orange on the shoulders . Dang I’m getting old lol ….i was a little
Boy when they wore them then….
Those always remind me of Condredge Holloway. I bought one of the throwbacks in number 7 several years ago when they wore them in the season opener. Love those!

As I said, the tradition purists are usually the ones to weigh in first on this. That said, there’s obviously a reason recruit photos are so often taken in dark mode uniforms..the players like the alternates. I agree the players aren’t the only ones who should have a say, but I certainly think they should have at least an equal say. A change feels good sometimes, it can be refreshing and motivating; it doesn’t equal the death of tradition. It’s kind of like that dad telling his teenage daughter she’s not leaving the house until she covers her knees; times change. Personally I think the ‘Live or die in white & orange britches’ mentality is outdated and a little silly. Let the players have their fun, sheesh.

Then there's a significant amount of daylight between us. Tennessee is Orange & White and Vol teams should wear those colors. That's my opinion and it is the majority opinion.

I don’t get the conflict. Smoky Greys would look amazing against a checkered Neyland.
The last time we checkered Neyland and wore smokey grays against UGA we lost 41-0. I don't like alternates anytime, but especially not in big games. We should wear our traditional uniforms.

Dark mode didn’t work out so well in ‘21 (am I remembering that right?), but something’s telling me our new Smoky Grey combo could be nice for this one. I’ll get a lot of disagreement, but I think the players by and large love the alternates, and I’m happy to yield to them. 🍊🏈
No. Thankfully Danny White respects tradition & Vols will be in Orange.

I’m not arguing against tradition. White is obviously also okay with alternates sometimes. I just think tradition and the occasional departure from it aren’t mutually exclusive; we can have both. Danny White seems to agree.

Gimmicks, trick plays, fantasies of the wishbone and alternate uniforms mean squat. Just silly fan drivel...no offense to the OP. UT needs to be UT and be ready to trade punches with UGA.
Maybe next week you should put out a preapproved list of what we can and can not discuss? Speaking of you know.. really posting on a forum is also pointless. "Silly fan behavior." Should Freak delete this entire website based on your opinion. While our team and athletes trade "punches" you will likely be on the couch stuffing your face or on the benches in the stadium doing the same. So get off your high horse. People can discuss whatever they like. Idc if they wanted to start a thread about who the best dressed on the Vol walk was.

Fans like you exhaust me. So childish lol.

Uniform has nothing to do with Ws and Ls and everything to do with what looks good.

No football uniform......NONE.....looks as good as our traditional orange jerseys and white pant.

There are a few uniforms that any avid college football can recognize from a distance but none is more unique or better looking than ours.

If you wanna get super technical, the Orange & White uniforms are actually alternates as well since the original football uniforms were black and gray. We didn't go Orange until 1922. So there.
