I was hanging out at a local bar in Knoxville last night with several friends and my good friend Richie who is a huge Bama fan, and he is very knowledgeable about SEC football in general.... he made a comment that really made me think. he said "Dooley is the one coach that UT could of hired, that Saban and Bama fans worry about". he explained that nobody knows Saban better than Dooley, and he has all the ability and credentials to be the next great SEC coach, etc etc.. any thoughts on that comment? thanks in advance.

They are defending national champions, I doubt they are worried about anybody.

Can't be worried now...but perhaps worried about what the future could hold with Dooley at UT.

Not only are they not afraid, they're probably still laughing their arses off. About like I was when they hired Shula.

Yes, they are having sleepless nights worrying how they can stop UT's offense now that Dooley is Head Coach.

I work with several Bama fans and they all say pretty much the same thing. We're going to enjoy the next couple of years because of the talent gap, but they do think Dooley is the coach that can get us back to the top....TIFWIW.

I think you meant "Do VANDY fans fear the Dooley?"

Ah well...answer would still be no.

It's their way of being respectful and being good sports about the hire, in my opinion. No one besides UT fans enjoyed Kiffin, and the other fans of the SEC thought he tarnished the conference's image. They're obviously going to be more receptive to the son of an SEC coaching legend and Saban's former pupil because he's a better cultural fit. They don't have any stones to throw about him causing any NCAA punishment, ala Kiffin. They expect him to do things the right way, and if he's successful while doing that, then he'll get the job done in restoring UT football.

It's more of a respect issue than fear. I don't think any Bama fans are scared of anyone. That's just their mentality, no matter if they're winning or losing. If they were really intimidated by him, then I'd be expecting them to trash him at every turn as a way to vent that.

That said, if Dooley and the team give the Bama squad an impressive showing or if Dooley is outcoaching some of the other "big name" coaches in the conference, all while bringing in Top 15 classes, then it could be said that some rival fans are worried.

Somehow I knew id see a few peoples negative comments about this question. You know who you are and apparently you have a special "insert the same old crap I always say" button on your keypad.

Your friend was either really yanking your chain or he had already consumed quite a few adult beverages.

Seriously....Dooley is the "one coach" UT could have hired that would make Bama worry? That doesn't even make any sense.
