Disney is Evil: Reason #156

They are just reorganizing? They will outsource Lucas Arts game development to outside developers it sounds like. So, there will still be Star Wars video games, even though 90% of them suck and are pointless.

Dude, lets be honest. Lucas Arts has not made a good game since the 90's. I always hate to see the end of an era but I cannot fault Disney on this one. Perhaps now they will license the SW property out to more capable developers and we'll start seeing some good SW titles!

I can't argue with this assessment - it still sucks though. LA put out some truly awesome adventure games - Sam & Max, MM, Grim Fandango, Monkey Island, etc etc

Don't forget Full Throttle and The Dig. Those were among some of the very first games I got when I built my PC rig back in the day!

Also the Xwing and Tie Fighter space combat games on PC were great back then! The Dark Forces and Jedi Academy FPS were a lot of fun too!

Maniac Mansion, FTW. Also, I didn't think the first Force Unleashed game was too bad. The second one was extremely disappointing though.

A lot of people are acting like this is terrible news, it's not(besides people losing their job). It's probably the best thing that could have happened to Star Wars gaming. Now the licensing will go to more capable gaming companies. Let's face it. Lucas Arts hasn't been produced a good Star Wars game in quite some time, or any game for that matter (aside from the LEGO games). All the Lucas Arts titles will be licensed and sold to anyone who wants to make them. Can you imagine an adventure Star Wars game made by SCE? Perhaps Infinity Ward wants to take advantage and make a Star Wars FPS. Maybe, just maybe, someone like Rockstar wants a piece of the pie and wants to make a sandbox Star Wars game. That's all possible now since George Lucas and his lockdown on licensing are out of the picture. Sure there will probably be some lame games come out just to take advantage of the name, but I think there will be/is a great game lurking in the future.

I loved the old X-Wing and Tie Fighter games, and the Dark Forces series. LA made some of the most baffling decisions, like not continuing to produce sequels for them.

Perhaps most baffling of all is why they never made a true Battlefront 3, considering that Battlefront series is one of the best selling series ever, and LA was the least profitable department of George's empire. Maybe now we'll finally see it.

Disney is still evil tho for shutting down the Clone Wars.

i'll have to say, my inner nerd would want me to purchase a star wars sandbox game made by rockstar.

An open world GTA style Star Wars could be pretty nifty. However, as some people have stated, a FPS would be a great addition to the franchise as well.

Anyone ever play the Star Wars mod for Battlefield 1942 back in the day?

Any company who make the game "Rogue Squadron", is alright in my books.

Epic game
