When he was on PTI yesterday, he said he didn't think the Vols could win it all...I know that is probably true, but I don't remember any coaches saying his team couldn't be the best

I'm glad he said that.

No point in saying the Vols could win it all when they probably can't this year.

Honesty is the best policy.

Now, if they would've asked him about next year...

Seriously, why say they could win it all when they probably can't, then have them get big egos and flame out early. At least, that could possibly happen.

The locker room and media room are two VERY different places. I HIGHLY DOUBT Bruce Bruce is telling the squad there is no chance at success this year.

I can agree with that. There is no team UT would play where I could instantly write them off.

Pearls said he didn't think they could win it all because they don't have the traditional size yet. In my opinion, it's better to say you can't win it all and do it instead of saying you can win it all and not.

I'm almost willing to bet he went straight to practice and said, "Prove me wrong."

I agree...plus this may be some motivational factor for the team.

Who knows...maybe it's this kinda comment that gets their blood boiling.

I do it was in the tennessean before football started this year and qoute Philip Phulmer when asked how he thought we would do this year, "We have the potential to compete for an SEC championship but not a national championship this year" not exact qoute that was just from memory

If only he had known that the National Championship was the easier of the two to win...

Pearl might want to fire his team up. I know when someone tells me i can't do something? What is your reaction? YOU PROVE THEM WRONG

That's exactly what I was thinking. You think when Chris, Dane, and crew were all seeing what their coach had to say on PTI only to find out that he didn't think they could do something. I'd fall right into his trap, be pissed and fired up.
