Did the BCS get it right? (merged)

I don't think you can argue that Florida isn't deserving.

However, Texas and Southern Cal have a legitimate gripe. They were just as qualified as the Gators and Sooners to be in the championship game. Going into the bowl season, Alabama had reason to be in the discussion as well.

Eventually yes. I think UF was the NC no matter who played them... should OU have been in there for that game? No. But then that comes down to how the Big12 chooses their tie breakers. So I guess in and around everything, yes. I think Utah should have been in the NCG.

Not calling you out, just wondering why you didn't include Utah with Tex and SC?

I dont think tu could have done any better than the sooners last night.

By accomplishment, yes. Did the best team win it? No. USC would have skulled either team in the game last night. They just didn't do enough to merit inclusion in the game.

Utah's got a gripe. I don't give them as much credit as some of the national "experts" may.

I think their win over Alabama was overblown. I credit them - they lined up and thumped Bama. I just don't think they really got Alabama's best effort.

The Crimson Tide had nothing to play for. In the 4th quarter in Atlanta, Alabama had the lead and had visions of winning the SEC and playing for a national championship. In 15 minutes of football, those hopes were dashed, and there really wasn't anything left to play for. On the other hand, Utah had everything to play for....an undefeated season, a matchup with a big-name SEC opponent, a chance to earn the nation's respect. Utah did its job, and I'm not knocking them for it....I just don't think they played a focused and determined Crimson Tide team giving its best effort.

Utah's a very good team, but they wouldn't have a prayer in an 8-team playoff.

Not so fast. USC is a team full of men who will be playing in the NFL next year. FL is a team full of talented kids who will be playing college ball next year.

The 13 voters who put Utah ahead of Florida on their AP ballots should have their right to vote for anything pulled. Permanently.

I still don't understand how you name two teams 1 and 2, let them play, and no longer have 1 and 2.

If tebow and harvin come back, florida is going to be sick next year.

I can't imagine Harvin coming back - especially after that big-game performance. The guy's a versatile and dynamic weapon...somebody will take him in the first round.

Tebow has nothing left to accomplish as a college player. He's done it all. That said, that game had to have hurt his NFL stock...and it couldn't have been very high to begin with.

Thanks to the BCS...I honestly cant say who the best team in the country is. Florida didnt play all that well and Oklahoma and could have very easily been beaten...USC murdered a once beaten Penn State team and Utah well...went undefeated, beating Alabama, whom was ranked #1 for the majority of the season.

College Football is screwing the fans. They get it right some years...but others they dont. Last I checked, I think all other sports get it right every single year, by playing it all out on the field.

Harvin might drop because he seems injury prone. A full season of healthy football could make him a top-20 pick. Should be interesting.

As for tebow SOME nfl team will draft him in the first 2 rounds (maybe not as a qb, but he will get drafted). The guy has been blessed by god physically. He may never do anything in the nfl, but he will be too tempting for someone. He's a strange one though. I bet he stays.

8 team playoff. The plus 1 does nothing for it. Get a real playoff system in place and let them play it out on the field.

its really hard to think that USC is not the best team when they manhandle anything that matters... I dont think it would have been a question if we would have just had a playoff system

I would have to lean to Fl in the matchup, but Utah did look more impressive than I thought beating up on the Bammers...Anyone give them a chance or think they should be #1????

Even an 8 team playoff would have left out one of the following teams (BCS Conf Champs, Texas, Utah, or Bama.

It would be better than what is in place now. Your always going to have that arguement. Make it 12 then 13 is bitching. Make it 16 then 17 feels slighted. Anything would be better than having all these one loss teams stacked on top of each other. These sucky bowl tie ins don't even get the best matchups on the field. Its a crap system, scrap it.
