Usually Tennessee will play Kentucky once in January and once in February or early March. It appears the schedule delayed the match up this year as long as they could considering they play twice. Delaying would deeply benefit a young team with transfers like Ky over an experienced Tennessee team returning 95% of their scoring.
In addition, Tennessee plays on Wednesday the game before the Saturday Ky game both times while Ky plays on Tuesday. In fact, it's been reported that EVERY Ky Saturday opponent in the SEC plays on Wednesday before their Ky game while KY is on Tuesday even when they are on SEC network. This allows KY an extra day of rest or practice before their Sat game while their opponent doesn't have that luxury.
This is too real to be a coincidence. This is the kind of crap that has to stop if SEC is ever going to be an outstanding basketball conference.
Regardless, I don't think it's gonna help KY Sat night. I believe Tennessee will be as focused as they have all year the entire game. 78-72.
