Did I watch a different game as everyone else?

In short: I think the Vols were literally an interception away from winning the SEC Championship. Give Ainge either one of those interceptions back, and UT has the best team of country's best conference.

Living down in Atlanta, I'll be bragging until next August that we won the most competitive and talented division in football: something even a loss to LSU can't take away.

winning that game wasn't going to make us the best team in the conference. It would have meant we had the best SEC record in the east (save UGA, who we beat in the tiebreaker) and that we beat a diminished LSU team in the SEC championship game. That's a far cry from the best team in the conference.

great attitude
hope we win the bowl game

lol, if it's one thing I don't have a good attitude about: it's bowl games. There's only one that matters, and we're not in it. I couldn't care less about what bowl game we go to and how we perform-- the next game in my mind is going to be in the recruiting trenches.

This was an LSU team with a banged-up back-up quarterback...a team whose starting running back was out by half time...a team whose star defensive tackle missed the 2nd half...and a team whose best wide receiver missed the 4th quarter.

Tennessee should have found a way to capitalize on the fact that LSU had so many key injuries...not to mention all the distractions with their coaching staff all week.

This one will hurt for a long, long time.

Okay, so given the loss, what's your ranking of the top teams in the SEC-- win/loss record aside (since that apparently doesn't matter).

Deja vu at least this year we weren't playing for a nat. title again

My subjective rankings from what I've seen (healthy teams on neutral field):

1. LSU
2. UF
3. UT
4. Aub
5. UGA

Agreed-- except I'd switch Aub/UGA. I'll take third, but the bragging rights of #2 :p

Seriously though, if we hold onto Cut, I think we could win it next year-- we grew up a lot this year, especially on D.

I won't take third and Cut was abysmal most of the year.

We were horrible, horrible, horrible on 1st downs offensively in this game. After the opening drive of the game, the offense vanished.
