The No. 1 pick in the NFL draft was joined Friday by fellow first-round pick tight end Brandon Pettigrew, the rest of Detroit's selections last weekend and undrafted prospects such as Demir Boldin and Gerald Riggs Jr.

Looks like he is there:

WVLT
Yahoo

NFL.com does not have him listed as a current player. You can find him under historical players for one year (2006)

Unless there is another GR Jr somewhere.

I always wondered why he couldnt make a team as a 3rd or 4th RB.....he seemed to have plenty of talent. I still remember those long runs he ripped off against AU to keep us in that game.

Yeah, that championship game right? where we had to start rick clausen b/c of injury; felt like most of the game we could have possibly won if either starting or backup qb were healthy...

Well, that and our Oline was like a penalty machine that game...

Yeah, Ainge and Schaeffer were injured. Which scares me about this season, because if Crompton and Stephens go down we are down to a walk on.

We'll probably end up with some walk-on just in case

And yeah, both injuries were unfortunate considering how good the team was that year. Really disliked the center that year....Ligon wasn't it?

They still managed well though and honestly, the close games at the end of the year probably helped get Auburn a little overconfident in that last game.

Neither has played qb for like 3 years now. I don't think it's like riding a bike; I'm not so sure it just comes back to you....

Did you miss last season? They both played QB. Jones has actually practiced and played at QB his entire time on campus.

He hasn't practiced at QB even 1 snap since Kiffin got here.

Just because he did some dumb single wing sweeps last season doesn't mean he could come in and play QB for an entire game.

Gerald Jones cannot throw the ball

I'm sure he would be a little rusty, but I wouldn't be so quick to say he can't throw the football. It's not like he has never played qb before.

He cannot throw the football on this level...

He ran a zone-read option offense in high school, just like Eric Berry.

Best of luck to Gerald. I remember being so hyped to have him on board. Was top2 running back recruits in the nation and did well. Not as well as the hype, but he and Cedric Houston actually had more yards together than Brown/Williams during the same year. They were our first RB that had 1000 yards in UT history.

I'm not saying he's anything more than a wildcat QB, but he showed he could throw decently in last year's Orange and White game.

How many passes did he throw? I thought it was a couple at most

Jones and Berry could not come remotely close to being legit qb's at this level. In high school they lined up primarily in a shotgun formation, and ran around using their athleticism. No doubt they are great athletes, but there is no way they are quarterback options on this team. If Crompton or Stephens went down, Rozier or Bram Cannon would more than likely have to go in.

I would bet our actual 3rd QB would be G. Jones or EB.

they may have a play or two for one of those kids as a "wildcat" type deal but as far as running the CLK system, they would not fit the role.. Rozier would be the guy imo

Go back and watch the "majority" of the games Riggs played in...that will show you why he hasnt made a team...:whistling::scare:
