Did Crompton get hit in the head or something?

Face the facts, he didn't cause the receivers to drop passes, run wrong routes, didn't cause the center to miss snap, or the tb/fb to fumble. He made his share of mistakes, but who hasn't. Don't we have enough Trolls on here bashing UT without our own fans slamming us. Go Vols.

I don't think you're facing the facts. We had guys running open all last season and Crompton couldn't hit them. It was either the the turf 3 yards ahead of the receiver or the usher on row 2. There were not that many dropped balls.

Everyone knows a QB can't play if his timing is off from a mental standpoint. I'll reserve judgement for Crompton and Coleman until after they get to actually play in this system.

Stephens was absolutely no better. I remember one significantly horrible pass against UGA. He threw it over the middle into what appeared to be triple coverage (I was there, so i couldn't see much in the way of replays). The pass got hit up into there air, and Jones made a huge play to get the catch. The only problem is that Lucas Taylor was streaking down the sideline, with at least 5-8 yards on his CB and no S over the top. He had an automatic TD, and instead he settled for an interception that luckily didn't get caught.

He wasn't much better, but he at least had more of a grip on things than Crompton.

He made a couple of plays. The throw into the back of the endzone in the same game comes to mind.

Sounds like a completely different person in this article. If the body follows the mind there may be hope yet.

Playbooks were part of spring break for Vols : Football : GoVolsXtra.com

Yeah, well, last summer I had a class with Crompton and Jadques McClendon. I asked how they liked the Clawfense (didn't call it that obv), if they were comfortable with it etc. Crompton said he liked it a lot, it was a good system, etc. Jacques agreed with him.

Now, I'm a big believer in this staff and their system, and I believe we will succeed. But I just felt compelled to say that Crompton was spouting this same stuff last year too.

Good point.

Dude, with your ability to totally critique a qb, maybe you should try out for the position. That is if you actually know how to play football, it sounds like you just like bashing others. If over half of the 11 guys on the field can't grasp the offensive scheme, I don't care who is quarterbacking, the system will not work. It is like my unit here in Iraq, if just one of my Soldiers don't understand the mission, everyone's life is in jeopardy. Sometimes there is more to it than what we as spectators actually see. Not wanting to argue, just my take on it.

Typical Crompton

crompton: none of my teammates are perfect (but I am) everyone knows that. Mistakes happen and thats part of the game.

reporter: what about that ball that hit the turf 15 yards ahead of your intended reciever Gerald Jones?

crompton: wellll, uuuuuuummmmm, I talked to GJ after the play and told him he needs to step it up a little next time.

reporter: ?But the ball landed 15 yards ahead of the reciever!

crompton: I know, I know even tennessee wide receievers make mistakes every once in a while. Gerald will have to learn to adjust to the balls that are thrown to him.

If you don't know what's going on you'll make some dumb decisions and play horrible. I saw him throw some good passes last season in that crappy offense. Also saw receivers drop a lot of passes and not getting open. Plus we couldn't run the ball. There were a lot of factors.

I was at the AU game and it looked like whoever could out do the other with crap loses! The comparison of 2 teams making the move to the spread and failing is eerie
