Did Butch Jones have a role in new AD?

Larry, do you think the in fighting will ever stop? Or will it take someone telling the Haslams your money isn't needed here anymore

NOBODY is going to tell a donor their money isn't needed here anymore. That should be obvious.

And as to infighting, I don't know if it can really be called that. If you are like me and have never been in that income bracket and that inner circle? It might be as hard for us to understand their way of doing things as it might be for them to understand how lower income folk think and interact.

Bohn didn't start at Cincinnati until 2014. He was the AD at Colorado who tried to hire Butch before Jones became the coach here.

I quoted the wrong post. There was was a post prior to yours that mentioned Butch and Bohn.

After about three years of 30K plus empty seats in Neyland stadium, the medium and lower income brackets (us redneck Tennessee fans) begin to make an impact. Even though ticket outlets gobble up most of the tickets, if they can't flip em', even they stop buying them. You have to also include other sales generating revenue. Say even $10 per person loss at 30,000 fans at the concessions for, what, four home games, adds up. 1.2 million dollars is quite a chunk.

I just don't understand an "employee" having input into the hiring of his or her boss. The position of "boss" is to administer to the needs and best performance of the company. It is the job of the employee to carry out the policies set forth by the boss. If the employee doesn't like or can't do what the boss requires, then go find another job.

While what you say makes sense - do you really think that Nick Saban had no say in the AD hire at Alabama?

It would normally be that the employee's bosses boss would have a good feel and understanding of the needs of those that were going to report to the person they hired. That helps with the understanding of what is needed in terms of managing their direct reports.

We will see how this goes but tradition says that when the hiring goes top down with a new person hiring new person - it is sometimes not a good fit when it gets to the level of where there was no change.

It is going to take both the set of coaches and Currie to make this work. Otherwise we will see movement among the coaches and it may not lead to what some on here think it will lead to.

whoever replaces the Haslams, will still be the bully on the block. All ADs have someone like the Haslams in charge. We have a press box named after Tom Elam who pushed the buttons until he died. It ain't ever gonna change.

and there will always be those under the # 1 guy trying to take his place.

Larry, how were the Haslams handled back when Tennessee was competing for championships year in and year out? Was it something as simple as a strong AD like Doug Dickey or what? Tired of them screwing stuff up
