Are there any announcers that don’t offend you? It's not a matter of being "offended" (God, how I've come to despise that word). I don't believe they were 'rooting' against UT other than the idea, confirmed by McDonough afterward, that they very much wanted the 'storybook' ending.
I honestly don't care who they pull for, I'm only "offended" by broadcasters that are incompetent, adding nothing to a broadcast but telling you what you just saw, like Blackledge, or the arrogant ones who love the sound of their own voice, like Danielson.
Came back from break after the game on the ESPN stream, announcers were still miked up, cussing like sailors & dissing Pitt. “Well what did Narduzzi expect leaving a crippled quarterback in to the end?” and “Pitt was so pedestrian.” And maybe the best of all just before they were cut off, one of them looking at his phone, “Can’t get anything on the ESPN app, ah screw it.” CLASSIC!!![]()

Jorden Rogers. LOL. Saw him on the field pre game talking to some quarterback ( might have been Hooker, might not even been a Tennessee game). He said. (Paraphrasing). “We are both quarterbacks, what drills do you do to get your legwork ?” Or something like that. These guys are light years better than Jordan Rogers and most of the other guys who’ve been doing our broadcasts for the past several years! Whoa Nellie - what I’d give to here Keith Jackson calling our games again!
I didn't have a problem with the attention they gave Frank Cignitti SR. It was the hot mic portion that I was not satisfied with. Seemed like they were hoping for Pitt to prevail for the opportunity to do an interview with JR. And for all I know, they may have.It was the Pitt OC whose dad died earlier (11AM) in the hours leading up to the game. There was a respectful well done segment on his passing. Frank Cignetti was an 84 year old Hall of Fame coach and had two or three of his sons follow him into coaching.
That shows the anti-Tennessee bias on ESPN really does existCame back from break after the game on the ESPN stream, announcers were still miked up, cussing like sailors & dissing Pitt.
