Actually just saw an article about it, but didn't really pay attention.

Will find...

here it is...

Lane Kiffin was announced as the new University of Tennessee head football coach Monday.

He is the 21st head coach in program history.

UT announced that Kiffin agreed to a deal through 2014 that will pay him an average of $2.37 million annually over that span. Kiffin, who will make $2 million in 2009, will reportedly bring his father — longtime Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin — to run his defense.

A good starting point. Obviously, with success that deal gets re-worked in a couple years. I hope we get to that point!

Don't know if this has been posted anywhere, but from what I heard...

6 year contract starting at 2 million a year. Average of 2.35 million a year.

2009 2 million
2014 2.75 million

This also does not include bonuses or other incentives.

Also, for what it's worth, he has been given clearance for another $1m for staff above what fulmer got. Fulmer's staff was paid $1.9m. That gives Kiffin $3m for his staff.

sounds good to me. This hire gets better and better to me. I like the idea of not necessarily paying one coach a boatload of money, and instead assembling a super staff that can all work together to get the job done.

Mullen is the reason why I read articles from KNS and here!!! He just sucks, period. He sucks so bad that even other beat writers in their sports department has to help write his articles. I don't even read his material any more.

What type of buyout?

From "Go Vols Extra"

Termination by Kiffin UT

2009 $1 million $7.5 million

2010 $800,000 $7.5 million

2011 $600,000 $6.25 million

2012 $400,000 $6.25 million

2013 $200,000 $5 million

2014 N/A $5 million

If this is correct, it will cost a bunch to let him go even in the last year of the contract.

Jimmy Sexton is one hell of an agent... or he has naked pictures of Mike Hamilton.

I read somewhere that some of the bonuses he would receive for certain milestones, Kiffin wanted that money to go into a pool for his assistant coaches. I will try to find the article and post it. I thought this was interesting coming from a HC and shows he is trying to build a powerhouse with his assistant coaches IMO.

I don't think I've seen anyone post the actual money that is in the Kiffin contract...

Thanks to TFP...

Kiffin on Saturday signed a “memorandum of understanding” with UT for an incentive-laden, five-year contract with an average base salary of $2.375 million per season.

That base is far from his financial ceiling, though.
He will earn an additional $40,000 for a non-BCS bowl game appearance;

$40,000 for splitting an SEC Eastern Division championship;

$50,000 for being SEC coach of the year; $50,000 for being national coach of the year;

$80,000 for playing in the SEC championship game;

$120,000 for winning the SEC championship;

$120,000 for a BCS bowl appearance;

$160,000 for a BCS championship game appearance;

$160,000 for a No. 1 ranking in the final Associated Press or USA Today poll;

$280,000 for winning the BCS championship game.

The memorandum stated that Kiffin would also be eligible for a $40,000 annual bonus for his team finishing with an NCAA Academic Progress Report score higher than 925.
Kiffin would owe UT $1 million if he left next season, and that figure decreases by $200,000 every year, according to the memorandum.
UT would owe him $7.5 million if it terminated his contract during the next two seasons. That figure decreases to $6.25 million in 2011 and $5 million in 2013.
