Derek Barnett Ranked #4 on PFF's 101 Best CFB Players in 2016

Now, this is more like it for Barnett. Top 10 for sure. Top 5 here. All the others before this had him way too low of the top 100 CFB players. But, for Dobbs to not even be on the list is insane!

Another reason PFF is a joke.

There's a reason NFL coaches and players laugh at their grading system.

Probably lack of a long ball holding him back. How many completions over 30 yards and that's being generous? For all of his many attributes I think the passing is holding him back. The good thing for us now is that we don't HAVE TO throw the long ball to stay competitive. Bear in mind the list is talking about the best in the country. How many players are we talking about (120 teams X 85 = 10,200 or more)? I'd rather us just be winning and showing what we can do on the field as opposed to 10 of our players being on someone's dream list. As "LSU Dad" says, WE in the SEC know who these special players are ; and everyone will know before this season is over! :dance2:

Yeah, thats why all the NFL teams subscribe to PFF and pour over their stats.... for the comedy. :lolabove:

Please post an article supporting this claim.

I've never heard of NFL teams using PFF.

And FYI to support my claim that NFL teams look at PFF as a joke, I've already posted articles from Belichek and Marvin Lewis calling their grades a joke. Along with some NFL offensive lineman.

LOL You're a child, and know less about the NFL than anybody I've ever seen on the internet. And where have you posted all this great wisdom,
I haven't seen it. And Belichick will never admit he uses analytics, even though the organization does, and I seriously doubt he would disagree
with PFF's analysis of Gronk, Brady, Sheard, and Jamie Collins.

Ask KBVol. He's good at digging up all my old posts. I'm not gonna waste my time rearguing this point.

All I know is that I've not seen anyone in the NFL take PFF seriously. They're a bunch of guys with no real football training who watch replays of games on NFL Rewind and assign grades to players.

Nobody in the industry takes them seriously.

They've only risen to prominence because they've been promoted by ignorant sports journalists who think they are an infallible resource.

D4H is actually right about Pro Football Focus. They are not the most legit & dependable source on the internet for information. I would place them very low on the totem pole! :)

Barnett and Garret are pretty much interchangeable. I would concede Garrett has slightly better pass rush skills, but Barnett definitely has better run defense. Their straight up stats are nearly the same. Makes me smh when I see people say Garret is flat out better.

247 Sports is the most reliable source for sports information especially college football recruits/rankings. 247 is a branch-off of Rivals & Scout anyhow but 247 Sports are the most trustable source in today's times.

You've come around on them. When I mentioned the 247 Composite once upon a time, you dismissed 247 pretty handily...even tho that wasn't the crux of the argument. Not sure I'd declare them the top authority on NFL scouting. Maybe JMO.

Sacks and TFLs are close, Barnett has a large lead in both solo and total tackles. The difference is against whom each player's sacks and TFLs have come against. 80%+ of Derek's came vs SEC competition....the majority of Garrett's came vs poorer OOC competition.

I dont know why people will not realize this. Garrett is a great player but I think Barnett is better. Now who will have the better NFL career is irrelevant.

So you and D4H have personally talked to all of the NFL experts, coaches and talent evaluaters? And they have all agreed with you guys about pff? Cool. Both of you must have some serious ties to the NFL.
