If we go 7-5 then yea I was will beyond mad and so will everyone else.
But after losing so many players via grad, portal, NFL, etc, how is this roster going to be good?
The only way we can be really good is of we add 6-8 more top players in key spots imo.. Hopefully these depth charts are leaving out some very Good players too.
Yeah for sure because there's NO way to fix that through recruiting and the portal.
This is where I get frustrated. Heupel talks like a fan, and how depth is a challenge. You’re the coach, coach. See that issue a year out. Hit the portal. Shuffle position coaches as needed. Recruit then DEVELOP to need.
Heupel seems so passive most of the time. You never heard Saban or any other great coach reflect on depth issues. They fix them. Because that’s like, their job.
I think you rely on recruiting too much. Heup doesn’t recruit well and the portal is pick and choose. You said to me earlier about building up the OLine and dline get through the portal.. sure we did with Wendell and Pendleton this year. That doesn’t equal quality depth tho. You can’t continue to run plug ins every year. Especially if we plan on ever beating uga with heupWe had 5 DBs leave last year and then replaced them with better players. We had 5 WRs leave this year but we already had the better players on the roster. He has filled in depth where the coaches perceived it was needed and I trust them to continue to do so.
Exact same situation going on with every team. College football in 2025.I think you rely on recruiting too much. Heup doesn’t recruit well and the portal is pick and choose. 2022 Classbut the young talent leaves... that's the problem.. we are keeping like 7 guys a class under heup
The days of 7-5 being an expectation are over. The floor for this program under Heupel is 8 wins minimum. Saying 7-5 is a reasonable expectation in year 5 woild mean we have regressed and have major issues.
Saban’s recruiting prowess — 17 consecutive top-5 recruiting classes, including the No. 1 class in the 247Sports Composite every season from 2011-2017, then again in 2019, 2021 and 2023. Including the 2024 class (which ranked 2nd nationally), Saban signed 75 5-star players (according to various recruiting services) and 282 4-star players in his 17 recruiting classes. This is where I get frustrated. It could be as simple as not having quarterback figured out. Georgia, Bama, Florida could easily be losses even if things are clicking fairly well. Say OU makes a leap with the new OC and QB and we drop one we have no business losing as per usual, that’s 7-5. It wouldn’t take some unprecedented collapse or massive amounts of locker room strife. Even the 10-2 team last year quite easily could have dropped 3 more games if a play here or a play there went differently.Agreed. I don't expect us to be as good as last year, but this is a soft schedule by Tennessee standards and I don't see 5 losses on it. If that happens, there's locker room issues or something else going on.
