I remember seeing Wall's name with the fight, but I missed it, what did Hughes do?

The player that hit the off-duty police officer in the head, knocking him to the ground, kicking him a few times, & then running off, won't be dismissed?

Or are you guys saying that the victim & witnesses cannot ID who that was & so he will get away with it?

I believe that was Darren Myles, i might be mistaken.

I hope it was Myles.
I'm trying to be hopeful, but several posters have made a good case as to the 1st wave of discipline being related to players with prior issues as opposed to this one. Won't be surprised to see a second wave of disiplinary measures being handed down in the next week or two.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.- The attorney for one of the UT football players involved in the bar brawl in Knoxville says his client did not start that fight.

Attorney Greg Issacs says Montori Hughes was attacked without his alleged attacker being provoked. Montori Hughes is a freshman defensive tackle at UT, and has not been interviewed nor charged by Knoxville Police.

The fight happened early Friday morning at "Bar Knoxville" on the Cumberland Strip near the UT campus.

Teammates Da'Rick Rogers and Darren Myles were both arrested. The fight left an off-duty Knoxville police officer unconscious.

Brown is in - it is just a question of whether or not he can complete the necessary summer school courses to be eligible for football in the fall.

Yeah, and he was involved in the brawl as well, right? I saw the police reports and there was one on him. He might be in trouble as well.

Myles is the guy that was kicking the cop on the ground and then ran off. He's been dismissed. End of story. No one else was kicking the cop on the ground. Why is this so hard to comprehend?

See Larry's post above. He's right, I don't think that has been established. Myles was charged for assaulting an officer and was dismissed by Dooley for getting arrested twice in 3 months.

Who did that has not been established at this point. the charges against Myles do NOT have anything to do with the KPD officer.

True. And often, police will try to build their case to make sure it is rock solid if they want to make sure they are going to get a conviction. The way this is starting to sound and shape up, I wouldn't be surprised if someone does jail-time over this.

Let's establish what we know in an orderly fashion.

There were 9-10 TN football players at BAR.

Something happened inside the bar to initiate the fight (supposedly someone hit Hughes)

The fight moved outside the bar and into the street.

This is where someone (not known at this time who it was) knocked the off duty cop out and then kicked him while he was down.

Once the cops arrived Da'Rick was trying to break things up and got a little out of control and got arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest (flexing his muscles while being cuffed).

Then Myles while trying to be arrested fled, then was caught and once caught hit the officer and fled again, only to be found and finally arrested.

Myles was then dismissed by Dooley on the sole fact that he was there and got arrested, not for causing the fight or throwing the punches.

King, and Walls were immediatly suspended because they were already in the doghouse and had any involvement at all.

We are now waiting for the investigation to be done to see who gets charged with what according to the injuries sustained to the 2 guys put in the hospital, the cops are trying to get all the stories straight.

Then Dooley according to what they and he finds, may bring down more penalties to other players (IE Hughes.)

That look pretty accurate???

That appears to be a good summary of the facts as we know them...there's ALOT of speculation but what you wrote are the known facts at this point...good job...

Has anyone heard how the 2 people in the hospital are...I heard the cop is still in serious condition, I haven't heard anything about the other guy

Are there any guys, anywhere in the country, that could come in and play DT this coming season? USC, JUCO, anywhere??

Curious of the same question. Is there not a 6'3 / 6'4 275-300# body that can be coached up on a JUCO somewhere? Does anyone believe they are actively looking? We need depth bad!

they have already looked. the depth issues have been there since they hit campus in January. They have been looking for help since day one.

This makes things worse if any or dismissed, but we had very little DEPENDABLE help at DT anyway. That is why they have been looking.

answer: no I don't think there is anything out there that could be issued a scholarship.

Almost 150 JUCO schools in the country and not 1 or 2 d tackles? Seems like any of them would be more than willing to play for the opportunity.

i guess they could invite someone to come if they think they can help at all. I'm certain they have looked them over.

problem with any juco's currently still out there is they likely can't meet SEC requirements.. the extras classes required.

I'm sure they'll want to talk to him - I'm not sure if they have to wait until he's released to do that.

I agree. They have already spoken to the off-duty cop, he just got knocked out for goodness sakes... He can talk. I would say that we have seen the worst of it and the rest will be handled internally. Maybe there will be one or two more indefinite suspensions but that's it.

I have a lot of faith in Coach Dooley, that was one of the best speaches I have heard in dealing with one of these types of incidents at Tennessee. Maybe it's because he is a lawyer or maybe it's just because he is a good guy.

Hopefully he can coach as well as he can talk, then we will be in good shape.

Who threw the punch that knocked the cop down?

Who fought in Bar Knoxville?

Those are the questions now

My guess:

Hughes, Walls, King, and Rogers will be suspended for UTM.

They will all be back by Oregon.

The fact that Hughes, Walls, and King were not dismissed immediately should give us a hint.

The only one I have much doubt of not returning is Hughes.

I hope you are correct. Hughes may very well be gone for good....

He is right in the middle of all this in every article I've read. He hired a lawyer before the sun came up the next day. I think he may be in serious trouble..Just an opinion...

Off duty cops that have been drinking until 2AM are no longer cops until they sober up and go back to official duty. That point needs to be EMPHASIZED! I feel bad for the guy but he "introduced" himself to a volatile situation as a cop and should have rather called one of the dozens of on duty cops within a block...straight and sober, to handle the situation.
