UT is 1 of only 5 power conference teams to not reach a bowl game in the last 3 years (UK, Kansas, Colorado, and one more team I can't remember). Wow! Unbelievable.

We didn't go to a bowl game any of the four years I was an undergrad. It's no big deal. You youngsters will get over it and learn to appreciate the good years and not take them for granted.

Fortunately we didn't have internet and amateur critics and such back then. It made it much more fun to be a fan of a bad team. Kinda did more interesting and important things between games rather than just sitting at a computer and meticulously dissecting the program to expose all possible flaws.

Every freshman class has been full of anointed saviors for a decade, I'm still clinging to my John Propst jersey with hope.

Hahaha. Love that obscure reference. I've got my Bryce Brown, Nukeese Richardson, and Drae Bowles jerseys somewhere too.

Its funny they say that, but most of the teams kicking ass in the SEC West haven't had consecutive highly ranked recruiting classes

Alabama is the only one, and teams with lower overall classes are either beating them or damn near beating them.

We may need exceptional talent to hide coaching issues

Sorry - I still SMH when seeing stats like this. Can't believe things have gotten this bad.

Lol just bustin yer balls dude. If you'd told me 15 years ago that UT would have just had the 5 year stretch it has had I'd have told you that if your granny had balls she'd be your grandpa. How spoiled were we to have 9 or 10 wins and go... meh.

I was definitely spoiled ('97-'00), but I think the message boards are entertaining and it's almost more fun when your team is bad bc the fan meltdowns are epic. iPhones have made it much easier for the legion of the miserables as well.

I hear ya man. At some point, I keep telling myself these recruiting classes will begin to show results in the w/l column. Definitely see improvement on the field ( on D esp.).

Well, just off the top of my head I know that Indiana has not been to a bowl game since 2007 (a loss to Ok State in the Insight Bowl) and before that you have to go back to Bill Mallory's tenure which ended in 1996...Make no mistake we have been horrendous but this "stat" is wrong...and I'm sure there are several other examples that I don't care to look up. I do think we beat Mizzou, Ky and Vandy and break the streak this year and easily get back to one next.

Now why would you think that? I mean, do you have any reasoning to back it up? Of all those teams, KY is the best and we won't beat them just because we have been beating them for many years. This is a different KY team.

I agree Ky is the best of those three but that's not saying much...It's at home and I'm not impressed with their defense. I think their perception will be much different by the time we play them.

Stat not wrong - IU was the other team I couldn't think of.

Vandy is only sure win remaining on schedule. I say we pick up one other win (USCjr, UK, or Mizzou) and don't break the stat.

Mizzou and KY will be a much harder game than we are crediting them for. Our O line gives up 5 sacks to an FCS school, and those two teams have a much better defense than we have O line. I hate to think it, but it is looking more like another 5 - 7 year. Maybe one of them will have a terrible game.
