Been hearing chatter from some delusional bama fans saying that mark barron will be better than Eric Berry. Medication is needed fast.

I agree that EB is a truly fantastic, once in a lifetime player.

While Barron has done a great job at safety, I dont think we will ever see him on offense or returning kicks.

You heard that from which Alabama fan? Or did you just make it up trying to stir the pot? Look, Eric Berry is one of the best safties in America in a long time. Got it! Mark Barron may well end up an All-American too but I can't honestly say that he is better than EB.

Mark Barron is having a better year and has more INT's than Berry.

Eric Berry has been asked to play all over the field, he is one of the team leaders in tackles. Admittedly I don't know much about Barron, but I would imagine he has fewer tackles and hasn't been asked to do as much as Berry has. How many INT's does Barron have this year?

He has 6 INT and 60 tackles.

Berry has 2 INT and 70 tackles.

Not bad, I would bet that he has been playing more center field than anything. I'm not knocking the guy at all, from what I have seen he is an excellent player. Having said that he has the benefit of playing with some of the top talent in the SEC. While the Vols are not exactly terrible on D the difference in talent and depth is real.

Just noting that comparing players on different teams isn't nearly as easy as many make it out to be.

considering his tackles he has been an excellent player this year, is he better than Berry, I don't think so but who knows maybe he will develop further.

Barron has 6 picks this year. Which gives him a total of 6 career picks, in 2 years. I think Berry had 12 after 2 years.

And don't argue that Barron wasn't a starter last year. That's no excuse. If he were a better player, he would have started as a freshman.

Mark Barron is also benefitting from having the best front 7 in the country in front of him as well as Arenas shutting down WRs. He has played very well in might eventually be an AA but he is not better than Berry.

Its good he can get them but can he turn them into 40 yd returns like EB? doubt it.....
I remember him returning one for about 75 yards for a TD against SC.

Berry is no doubt a great player -- his play and stats speak for themselves.

Mark Barron is also an excellent player, but this his first year as a starter. IMO, it is premature at best for someone to proclaim at this point that he is better than Eric Berry.

The only good thing about Alabama is that it is lucky enough to share a border with Tennessee and has the Red Lobster!

Agreed. It will be very hard for any player to be better than Eric Berry. Guys like this only come around every so often.

Can Barron be as good as Berry? I think it is possible, the next couple of years will play out and we'll all know. As far as him being better than Berry......I think it will be very difficult, as I said above players like this only grace college football periodically.

I'm sure some bama fans will believe Barron to be better, it's pretty common for fan bases to think their guy is better than ______. So far the kid has shown great potential, this has been one season and as we have seen play out with Berry every season is different. Many factors will be at play here, can Barron remain healthy, can he play at the same level from year to year? All questions we have to wait for the answers to.

I will say that Barron's chances are good given the talent he has surrounding him, if healthy he will be a great player.
