Does our offensive approach and style put a strain on our defense? For sure it does which makes defensive recruiting and talent/depth even more important... Our scheme and style with some better talent on offense makes us even more elite... But in the SEC defensive talent and depth will be what
it takes to get us to the next step.. I think Huepal sees it and its easier to sell offense but true work will come with defensive recruiting

Heupel himself sees it. Look at our 2023 class so far. Defense more than anything

Strain? No. We're scoring in bunches, that's a relief on the defense.

Defensive recruits will also know they can come here, play more overall plays, thus boosting overall stats AND accelerating progression by getting more plays under their belt (vs a standard team) in a shorter period of time (the biggest variable in speed to progressing as a player).

It's a win-win.

With the style of offense we have, it is imperative that the D gets off the field quickly. They need to be a gambling D, going for takeaways at the risk of giving up a quick score. A quick score given up gets the D off the field and puts our O on the field to wear down the opposing D. We need run stoppers and talented gambling DBs. Against good teams, we need to win games 45-42.

I am excited about the future with the emphasis we are putting on recruiting elite edge rushers. We have one very good looking corner and we need one more in this class. The offense will always be explosive with Heupel.

Exactly. Sell out. Blitz or whatever you have to do to pressure the QB even if you give up big plays. A 3 play scoring drive for the opponent puts no more points on the board than a 14 play drive.

Somebody throw out a Dline depth chart. I’m guessing all will need to contribute.

That sounds like a great strategy. But, as we saw in the bowl game against Purdue -- Shoot-outs just wear everybody out.......

If the defense does its job and doesn’t allow 3rd down conversions, the defense puts the pressure to score points. Result, we win more games by larger margins. All the defense has to do is get the ball back for the offense.
