Defense is awful

I don't think that this game is the best indicator of what our defense will be, not everybody runs that offense. Let's reserve judgement until we play a more conventional offense.

We'll never see that style of offense again. I really don't think our defense is that bad

Judging our defense based on this game is like judging Ice Cream because you don't like Sour Cream... It doesn't make no sense.

Our defensive tackles are flat out awful. Any team that can run between the tackles will have their way with us.

You have all night to cry about it. Lets us know if we can get you some tissue.

Tennessee runs the spread or flex. Georgia Tech runs a similar offense. An intelligent person might think that since we run similar offensive schemes that the defense would be prepared for it and not give up 41 points. We have the rest of the season to see what happens.

I agree with this 100%. While I think our defense still needs work and Tuttle will help in the middle this type of offense is almost impossible to defend when it's executed perfectly like GT did....

Only thing that worries me is perimeter runs. Martin didn't tackle very well and our OLBs were really bad at taking on cut blocks. Really, really bad. We tried to bubble around them creating 3-5 yards a play

Gave up the most rushing yards in school history, but I still am not worried. Seen a lot to build off of. First games are always iffy and especially against an unorthodox offense like GT

If they can't get Martin to play within 20 yards of the line of scrimmage, it will such then too. Does that guy think he is playing safety out there?

Only an idiot thinks we run similar schemes.

Jumper isn't. He is what he is. The fact that we can't find anyone better is the bigger disappointment.

I've been saying all summer kmac pisses me off bc he worries about that twitter than playing football.

You mean one that we know is going to run 98% of the time and we still can't stop it.
I can't wait to play a power 5 team that were gonna have to guess what they will do.

But nobody's gonna run on us!! No wait that was last year, my bad.

No, it is very likely that our defense will, in fact, be bad. Quarterbacks keep the ball in spread offenses all over the country: You either get off blocks and tackle him, as we did on the last play of the game, or you get roughed up, as we did. We suxed.

I'm not concerned with the numbers we gave up. GT puts up huge rushing numbers on everyone, it's all they do. What I am concerned with is it appeared we were constantly getting pushed back up front and our corners just aren't good. Martin has no buisness being on a field, Mosley isn't leaps and bounds greater. Seems what we struggled with last year we haven't fixed.
