I hope we get a lot of defensive players BUT will it matter with Banks as DC and Martinez as Secondary coach? I am sorry I don't buy the talent ideal beside look at what Garner has done with our D-Line and LB has been somewhat decent. The gap when it comes to rush defense and pass defense is unreal. I know a lot of people wanna say it is talent and I agree that is apart of the problem BUT how long do we have to have a secondary that gets lit up by decent QB for that mindset to change?

LOL. Happens to me all the time, too. I claim senior moments.

Just looked up Backus in the directory since I didn’t see anything about him during fall ball. Looks like he just left today. 9DFF66CF-D238-425C-B44E-FE6735602225.png

I had very high hopes for Backus. Anybody got the scoop? How did he look this Fall?

Just saw Bradley Gagen is now in the transfer portal. Not sure if I saw him pitch at all this fall. I admittedly do not know a lot of the new high school class, so me missing him would not mean a lot.

I know there is one more Vol coming but I won't reveal until he makes it known. New player who came in this year.

I wonder how many enter the portal after a suggestion by the coaching staff. I assume it happens fairly often especially since COVID rosters are dwindling.

I think it is a combination of things. I think it is the conversation that you will be redshirted next year and they know if they are redshirted next year that it may not bide well for the future. Most are not Trey and are not willing to wait their turn. Some realize they are in over their heads and their dream was not reality. Some did not develop like the coaches thought they would and they are told there will never be a place for them. Those who are graduating in the spring and will lose their scholarship so they are looking for someone who will give them a grad year scholarship. Those that are looking for better team to play on for grad year or like Dollander to increase their draft stock. (not those leaving UT but baseball in general, usually mid-majors)

With a packed transfer portal, a school that was starting or restarting a program would have a good chance to get some experienced and/or talented players. Especially with decent coaching.

Too late to start one now but UTC could have been right in there.

We should have at least one more at some point. New player left the team mid-semester (stayed in school). Will be transferring.

It's been a long offseason. Remind me again who Backus is that came from WSCC. Jacob All-American?
