I was flipping thru Twitter and saw a fan page that said that when Debord was hired it was on a two year contract if that's the case then his contract would be up at the end of this season.

Regardless surely Butch knows he HAS to make offensive changes. Let's be honest, everyone is clamoring for Butch to be fired but we all know he's not going anywhere. However what is realistic and should happen is staff changes.

Having said that. What are some candidates you would like for what positions...

OC...
OLC...
QBC...
Etc...

Replacing DeBord will not be an answer. He is a symptom of the problem ... not the problem. Lyle Jones believes you can win in the SEC with gimmicks and clichés. He is touted as a recruiter but the roster is positionally unbalanced. He is the brain (or lack thereof) behind the offense. Unless he hires an offensive coordinator and gives him (or her) autonomy for the offense, nothing will change.

I fully understand that, but Butch isn't going anywhere so we can only hope that Butch will make the proper staff changes and evolve. If not then he will eventually be gone but that is eventually he's here for another year or two at least

I agree that DeBord needs to go. As far as QB coach, I would see what Peyton's interest is. I know this will ruffle some but I'm glad Dobbs will be gone. I believe Guarantano will be a much better passer and equally as good at running the ball.

Not defending him or saying the Vols should keep him around, but if Debord is out how will they replace him? What hot shot OC wants to come to Tennessee and hitch his wagon to Butch's mule given the direction things are going? Could be a short tenure.

An OC that wants to boost his resume by reviving a offense that has tons of talent and potential but is underperforming.

We don't know this to be totally true. A new OC could be hired and a new system could be installed. Until a non-Butch buddy is hired, your logic cannot be proven.

DC. Shoop has been awful, every bit as bad as Debord if not worse to this point. Bob Shoop can gtfo as well.

Yup. This is a MAC offense and we have a ton of receivers/secondary (who are also underperforming/busts) and not enough lineman on the roster.

If Peyton ever decided to come here, it wont be for a long time IMO. He seems to be enjoying life without football, making commercials and spending time with family.

Why people are just assuming JG will be so much better than QD or SJ is baffling. Seems like those guys just get completely overlooked. SJ is a true DT like JG.

100% spot on. Whoever the OC is on Butch Jones' staffis gonna do exactly what we've seen from Debord....Jones will demand it. Absolutely nothing will change.

I want Tee to continue to crush it as an OC and then be our HC in 2018

Bloomgren has as impressive a resume as anyone I've seen in a long time. Been a fan for awhile.

Just for fun. Make the change this week and go to end of season.

OC and QB coach - Erik Ainge. Knows the offense well and could certainly help the QBs.
OLC - Atone Davis. One of the best ever at UT, had a pro career, and already there every day.
WR'S - Nobody. I dont think it would change much. Just tell JJ, Byrd, and crew to get open.
Oh yeah. Run the Jet sweep a lot with Byrd, Kelly, and Latrell Williams. Speed kills.

They fire OL and DB coach and move Debord to OL and the pass game coordinator to OC then Jones is fired in '18

Those gimmicks work until you play Alabama and a good defense like Florida runs out there. I think you should use the same system Nick Saben runs. Go to a pro style offence. Your not gonna get a big time reciever running the crap we run. Then you better recruite some good O-Linemen.

Brice said that Mahoney's contract is ip after this season, and was the only staffer not renewed earlier when everyone else was. Brice said he's definitely gone.

I'd look at herb hand for OL, he and jones are friends and AU looks good blocking

The only move Butch needs to make is to REmove himself.

Now my picks here are based on the assumption that we have a coach and program that is dedicated to doing whatevef ot takes to win so here it goes.

OC- Lincoln Riley, Major Applewhite or Sonny Cumbie, Tony Franklin

OL- this will never happen but, Robbie Caldwell, Joe Rudolph, Phil Fulmer

WR- Dennis Simmons, Kasey Dunn
