Over the past two weeks I have read alot of threads bashing Dooley and his job thus far. I have seen alot about Todd Raleigh threads as well, these are warranted. But the fact is in a time were we as a fan base have gone through three HC in the past three years we are falling apart. People are upset that only two kids have given verbals to UT. Remember that with the program the way it is kids want to see what is going to happen this year before they agree to anything. Also Dooley was Sabans recruiting coordinator. I doubt Saban would have given this guy the job if he werent good at it. I have seen volnation turn against eachother. On a site I come to, to talk to fellow fans guys are always bashing each other. I even read a thread earlier were VolBeef the so called Vol Guru told a guy to jump off a bridge because he thought VolBeef was jumping the gun on calling for Dooleys head. Now I know he wasn't really wanting the guy to kill himself but is this what we have become as group of people. I am not as old as some of the people on the site and with that said I have not been a fan as long as alot of you. The thing is growing up I was always excited to see the Big Orange play and to interact with other fans because it was a good fan base and university to cheer for. The university hasn't changed, but you all have. If I got on this site as a 5 star recruit and read the things everyone posts bashing a guy no one knows about, that hasn't coached a game yet, I would pick UF of ALA as well. You would think in a time when a university needed its fans to gather and cheer their school on they would get it. I know some will bash me for this but I dont care, can't alway get. through to everybody.

Kid, you just said what a ton of people on here have been thinking. Most of "us" internet posters really don't have a clue what we're posting about and it's all general speculation at this point. I don't pretend to know whether DD is going to be bad or great as a head coach at UT and I'm not going to proclaim either. I think we all get ansy and it will probably continue to be that way as the summer tolls on. Hang in there, we may fight amongst ourselves but you let a Gator or a Bama fan start some crap and we're still all Vol.

Like I said, none of these folks, gurus or otherwise really have a clue. We've got pee-wee coaches who spout off like they have a clue about running a football program the size of UT's. We've got TVA employees that will tell you DD is the second coming of Neyland. Neither of them know.....I don't either. Get ready for a long summer kid. Oh, and GO VOLS!

I skipped down to the sentence in bold. Based on this, I'm going to assume it's not worth wasting my time reading the rest of this.

No recruit worth jack will make a college decision based on a freakin' message board.

I'll bet that at least 90% of the players UT has currently offered have never heard of or seen VN.

And even if they have, I'm still waiting for the first time a player says he didn't go to UT because of a message board.

I hereby nominate AirVol3 for best post of the offseason. It was even broken up into two distinct paragraphs.:) That pretty much sums up everything since January, 2010. Who wants to second my nomination?

I don't think it stops them from coming here because they know how crazy we all are, and they probably look at other team's sites as well.

Agreed. A recruit may stop by the site, but it's the depth chart, the coaches, and the facilities that sell a recruit. Not a bizarrely optimistic message board.

No one is saying that they will base their decision on what they read, but it's extremely naive to say that they don't look.
