I never want to here anybody on here making fun of FSU and Winston again. The way some of you have acted with the news of AJ makes us no better than their fans. It's amazing to me that, without any facts whatsoever, you can crucify the alleged victim. People want her name released? That may be the dumbest thing I have ever heard.
I think people sometimes blur the lines of what is and what isn't important. A girl allegedly being raped? Important. A football player being able to play on Saturday? Not important.

We are all Vol fans but please for the love of God stop embarrassing our fanbase.

I have not participated in the back and forth on VN, and I am doing my best to withhold judgement until the facts come to light. However, there is a difference in how our program and our head coach have handled this situation and how FSU and their head coach have handled the crap Winston has done.

Although I agree there are those that make us look bad, there's a difference between fans making light of it and an entire institution and police dept. turning a blind eye

Careful - I'm not sure there's a person on here who would EVER push aside a woman who'd been horribly wronged so that a favorite player could take the field.

There's an almost impossible balance that fans on this site are trying to reach:

1 // Hope that this is all just a nightmare, and AJ Johnson didn't do what he's allegedly accused of.

2 // Resign ourselves that if what's being reported is the truth, that justice is served (as it should be).

That's the reality we're in. If the rape didn't happen, there's no reason fans shouldn't be able to hold out hope (and express that hope) for AJ to triumphantly take the field on Saturday...if the rape did happen, then that will bring a massive amount of frustration, disappointment, etc - not to mention affect so many people beyond those at the center.

I'd challenge you not to fault a passionate fanbase simply for hoping one of their favorites didn't commit a horrible crime.

I'm speaking explicitly about the fans side of things. Our coaches, ad far as I know, have handled this as they should, which is the exact opposite of how Florida State handled things.

Too little too late.

I do take offense to the not being any better than FSU fans though. Every poster on VN could go out and murder someone tonight and come morning we would still be two rungs up the ladder from FSU fans.

And who, exactly, gave you a soapbox to stand on, so you could preach to us? Your interpreting that wanting EQUAL protection for the accused = mistreatment of the accuser, is frankly...

I never want to see you post here, again. Ok?

People are taking it well beyond the point of equal protection of the accused and the accuser. But you know that already.

Your picture is appropriate for your prolonged argument of "equal protection." It's ****. By your own argument, every child molester, rapist, and murderer deserves "equal protection" because we should all know who the accuser is. That just isn't how the system works, buddy.

Do you really not the see the potential pitfalls of releasing a potential rape victims name?

I am withholding judgement for now.

OP you are correct, this young lady deserves privacy and if true this a horrible crime and Vol or not he deserves to go to prison.

HOWEVER, if these allegations are not true this young man deserves better and this young lady should be prosecuted and go to prison.

Time will tell.

Jameis is a horrible example because I can watch the footage of him committing crimes, maybe not the sexual crimes he is accused of . . . so its a little different.

Don't get me wrong. If it is shown that this was a false allegation, the girl should be charged with falsifying a police report and even slander/libel.

AS IT STANDS NOW, we have no proof that AJ did or did not do it. Those on either side are purely speculating.

And without any facts whatsoever you want to crucify the accused?

If CBJ feels like the facts indicate AJ is guilty, he will not allow AJ to return.

Jameis W at FSU may or may not have raped a girl. He DID commit theft. He DID chastise fellow students on campus. He DID sign autographs for cash. And CJF is blatantly jumping through loopholes to keep his star player on the field, national perception be damned.

So to even think for a SECOND that TN fans treating the two situations differently is inappropriate is to be completely ignorant. Or you're a closet FSU fan

They should have not released anyone's names until they had the facts on everything, that includes A.J's. If he's found to be guilty let justice be served, if not he's owed a lot of apologies!

Again...you are on this Shtick about the justification of dragging through the mud, the names of athletes...who happen to be easy targets for scheming females (who are trying to make quick bank or payback for being jilted)...while the accuser should be afford protection from having their name released to the public.

In the cases you mentioned....apples and oranges, hoss. Apples and freakin oranges. In those situations, both the accused and accusers names are made public. Dumb straw-man argument on your part. What's new?
