First let me tell you I am impressed with your courage to consider joining our dumpster fire. I hear you are a great DC and recruiter. However, I think you are coming into something you don't fully understand.
At first you will see great support here on Volnation. Our fanbase has a tendency to worship our coaches. Don't let this fool you, because it was the EXACT same way with our previous 2 coaches. This fanbase will turn on you, even the coach worshippers. It is a cycle. Coach announced...great support...not much progress...support lost. You can look back over Volnation for the past 2 hires and confirm this. This even happened with the Kiffin hire. These coach worshippers will act like they never liked your hire.
We have been rebuilding for a decade and most fans are sick of it.
If this doesn't scare you off, you need to come in here and win. Make it happen. We don't need excuses or coach speak cliche lessons...we need to win...NOW. We must see you win at hiring a staff, recruiting, and most importantly ON THE FIELD. We are tired of being a joke and will accept nothing less.
Now that we are clear, Welcome to Tennessee.

How many times have you started welcome speech to a new coach? We have had like 10 coaches "hired" at this point if you go by media pre-ejaculation.

May have the same problem with Pruitt as we did with Venable. They want to finish the playoffs before coming on board. In past years not a problem with the early signing date now it is. So most likely Steele as he's the only target not with a playoff team.

HC needs to be able to delegate.

It is important to finish your previous commitment before moving on to the next.

If Pruit is the better choice. He will be chosen. You don't let 4 weeks of prior obligation remaining stop a potential program changing hire.

And he will absolutely stull recruit through his staff he's assembling.

Early signing period but many top prospects will wait till February.

He helps win another National Title...somehow I see that as being a positive for recruiting....

You put the cart behind the horse..... not in front of it.

Let the man and his staff be hired first before the thanks and patting of backs.

Thanks for the letter. I feel even better that he will succeed here after he reads this...

You have described just about every fanbase in college football.

I don't think our fan base turned to quickly on the previous two coaches. In the end, they both sucked and destroyed the ability of our program to be competitive and win games. We just saw it before the administration did and tried to bring it to their attention before it got too bad and they had a full blown dumpster fire. We tried and failed and therefore we have lost faith in any non-football knowledgeable administrator to make an intelligent decision. Whatever the case, I think we acted like any other traditional power house program would do, we made it obvious to them and everyone else how bad they were, and forced them out.
Now, we are only trying to vett out potential candidates before an administrator makes another bad decision and ultimately do our job as loyal fans of the great University of Tennessee.
If Mr. Pruitt has what it takes and can stand the heat, he'll make the cut and receive our welcoming committee next September, 102,455 strong.

I believe Kirby did both jobs for a while. Worked out pretty well. Phil took the recruiting test and has been recruiting already. He has talked to them and according to some they are OK. he is working on getting the McCabe kid back. he did coach his daddy so is familiar with the family.
