It's great to see you back in the limelight at the University of Tennessee. Seriously, I mean that. Frankly sir, things went to the crapper after you were gone and we have never rebounded. Kiffin had potential but ended up with commitment issues. Dooley, well, no one knows why that hire was ever really considered. Maybe a great guy, but as a H.C., we'd been better off with Smoky the mascot picking plays by barking once for yes, two for no. Butch Jones had great potential and frankly, why he failed will be debated for several years on forums like this one. Personally, I think somewhere along the way he simply lost the team and as you well know, if that happens it doesn't matter how many 4 or 5 star players you have. You are not going to win championships that way.

You now hold the reins to the most massively screwed up coaching search in the entire history of sports. The fanbase has rioted, literally rioted I might add, over one potential coach and when it appeared that your predecessor had a halfway decent coach on the hook, he was called back to Knoxville and let go. We've been used by other head coaches to increase their salary and frankly, it's damned embarrassing at this point.

So, with sincere respect for you as an individual and for what you accomplished at the University of Tennessee, may I please ask you to not screw this up? It's time for a grand slam type of hire. It's time to pony up the dollar bills and bring a championship coach to Tennessee. Anything less than that (untested offensive coordinators, head coaches with 7-5 records, head coaches with losing records and so on) is a slap in the face to your players, the fans, and to the program. If that kind of hire is made, then the message you will send will be that the University of Tennessee does not give a damn about the football program, doesn't give a damn about winning, and doesn't give a damn about the fans, who by the way, finance a significant portion of revenue that the University of Tennessee currently enjoys.

It's been over 10 years. Now is the time to make things right. Perhaps you have been elevated for such a time as this. Do the right thing Mr. Fulmer. Hire our Championship coach.

Sincerely,
A currently revenue generating fan.

Dear People Who Post Letters,

I never get the point.

Sincerely,
Me

While Fulmer will never see this thread, they are just pointing out, lol...or venting, the frustrations from the past 10 years. Will the hire, that Phil makes, reunite everyone? NO, but that is who our coach will be. Whether or not we support him is up to the individual fan. Further protesting will only serve to embarrass the university and fan base. They will not back down again. :hi:

Dear Coach Fulmer,

I will not follow you like a sheep. I will not blindly accept and support your hiring of a coach just cause “you’re coach Fulmer”. I will however hope that you exceed in areas that Currie was most flawed in. I wish you all the best and much like when you were the head coach, look forward to being pleasantly surprised.

Sincerely,

A realistic fan.

Lol, posting letters on VN is good reading fun. Not as good as Dear Scroggins, but still provides a chuckle. Thank you

If I could write a letter to me
And send it back in time to myself at seventeen
First I'd prove it's me by saying
Look under your bed, there's a Skoal can and a Playboy
No one else would know you hid
And then I'd say I know it's tough
When you break up after seven months
And yeah I know you really liked her
And it just don't seem fair
But I'll I can say is pain like that is fast and it's rare
And oh, you got so much going for you
Going right
But I know at seventeen
It's hard to see past Friday night
She wasn't right for you
But still you feel like there's
A knife sticking out of your back
And you wondering if you'll survive
But you'll make it through this and you'll see
You're still around to write this letter to me
At the stop sign at Tomlinson and 8th
Always stop completely, don't just tap your brakes
And when you get a date with Bridget
Make sure the tank is full
On second thought forget it, that one turns out kinda cool
Each and every time you have a fight
Just assume you're wrong and Dad is right
And you should really thank Ms. Brinkman
She spent so much extra time
It like she sees the diamond underneath
And she's polishing you till you shine
And oh you got so much going for you
Going right
But I know at seventeen
It's hard to see past Friday night
Tonight's the bonfire rally
But you're staying home instead
Because if you fail Algebra
Mom and Dad will kill you dead
Trust me you'll squeak by and get a C
And you're still around to write this letter to me
You got so much up ahead
You'll make new friends
You should see your kids and wife
And I'd end by saying have no fear
These are nowhere near
The best years of your life
I guess I'll see you in the mirror
When you're a grown man
P.S. go hug Aunt Rita every chance you can
And oh you got so much going for you
Going right
But I know at seventeen
It's hard to see past Friday night
I wish you'd study Spanish
I wish you'd take a typing class
I wish you wouldn't worry, let it be
I'd say have a little faith and you'll see
If I could write a letter to me
To me
