I agree with we didn't have all our starting DB's but our biggest problem was over the middle passes our LB's are just a step to slow. Good teams like Trask at UF , Bama & Auburn will go down the field all day going over the middle & mxing in the run. We had no answer last night thankfully they went away from it for a while. The good thing is we play teams with QB ?'s Missouri, UGA & UK next 3 games. UK QB wilson basically lost that game for UK, fumble, Int and throwing away a 2 pt conversion instead of giving his team a shot.
Also good thing we have 3 games that we can possibly take 2 of 3 while continuing to improve.

Seemed like when we blocked straight ahead and ran north / south the running game was pretty good. Running East / west on a smaller quicker D line didn’t work out so well. That old school run package worked well until the off sides penalty. The rpo plays where JG could hand off or pull it out and pass worked well when JG was reasonably accurate.

Did you think we were going to win 8-10 in an all "SEC" schedule.? If so...you are sadly mistaken! We're decent in spots...dominant in none. Teams that have "special seasons" have a "special" QBs...."2" isn't special! Great great kid...but not a top tier SEC QB.
He will only keep getting better next year when he is playing his 5th year as a starter and 3 with the same OC he will be good.

in sacks with 2.5 after week 1

On a side note Ty Chandler is 3rd in rushing yards (86) and 4th in average per attempt (6.6).
Best I've ever seen him. It wasnt just the sacks. He created pressure all night!

Gray kinda regressed back to dancing behind the line to much. Chandler just found the hole and plunged through. Once Gray understands to do that he will be fine.
I'll admit he did seem to regress, but it is crazy how the Oline doesn't block for him like they do Chandler with the last two games last yr. being exceptions.

Does it really matter what happens in other games. When we play those teams, then it will matter. Always looking for the black cloud behind every silver lining is the main thing wrong with this fanbase. WE WON! Get over yourselves.
Yes we won!!! AND I hope we win them all!! ALL I was saying was just watching other teams I could see them doing things that I did not see us doing very well. Maybe I should have said going forward I feel these are things we should work on. Hell, we all saw those things. All I was trying to say was ,,, well it makes no difference, some will see or hear only what they want to.

Georgia has issues, Auburn was beaten by Kentucky for 3 qtrs, and Texas A&M barely escaped Vandy and would have lost to SCAR had they played. We got 20 practices with limited personnel and we didn’t have our starting secondary and D Line. I think we will be fine, but QB is a concern.

Yes it seems everyone is in the same boat as to prep. It would be interesting to see who had how many out for the limited practices available. Some look like they had little productive work.
What I tried to look at was the reaction to and the timing etc., not the caliber of the player as to his ability. Just the other things. For some reason some of the lessor teams looked pretty good in different parts of the games. If this is the case the the SEC should nearly fill the top ten....

Baron is going to be a fantastic player for us .He was in the backfield all night.

Yeah, but Baron cheated. When the ball was snapped, he punched, swatted, searched and shuffled through the SC offensive line until he found the one he wanted. He then grabbed the RB with one hand and threw him 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage...That’s not legal is it? 😉

LSU got hit hard with Covid as well. I think some schools got lucky and had their 25 practices with minimal numbers missing. That would explain why those schools looked more polished and good. I don’t think if MSU played LSU in the middle of the year the outcome would be the same. But they got them first game with a very savvy offensive minded coach and executed the game plan perfect storm to steal a win.

Chandler completely eclipsed Eric Gray last night. It looked like they were running behind different olines.

Some of us have known that all along. EG is a good back and getting better but I've not seen him doing anything that makes him a better back than Chandler.
