There is a wealth of knowledge on this board, and we should leverage it for something more useful than conversations about soup. This thread is for alerting people to deals you know about or hacks you may have for saving $.

Most people don't know this, and I just realized this recently, but I can share my YoutubeTV subscription with other people's GMail accounts, as long as you don't exceed the device limit (stream simultaneously on 3 devices). So my bill is like $85/month, which a lot of people just go with Sling or whatever because of that price point. But I put my buddy on my account and made an arrangement. He gives me $35 (he only gets 1 device), and now I get YoutubeTV for the price of Sling. Now factor in sharing YoutubeTV for Sunday Ticket or something like that, and you split that big cost in half (I'm just getting RedZone this year)....

I was trying to remember what that movie pass deal is. Somebodies brought it up on VN, can't remember who, but you can buy a pass from Harkins or somebody else for like $15 and see unlimited movies in a month? Can somebody point me in the right direction?

Is YoutubeTV superior to Sling?

I share yttv with 2 of my younger brother in laws. We just add them to the family account. I’ve had them on for a couple of years and no issues. I think they allow you 5 accounts.

if you are finding yourself spending a lot on internet for your home you may look into a small business package. depending on your area they will be price competitive for mid/upper tier home internet speeds. also typically comes with less throttling and buffering. and as a business customer you get better service from your provider (personal anecdote). they don't require/check/care that you are actually a business. and they typically have better (quicker) upload and download speeds than home internet packages.

I have done this with Xfinity for 10 years, my prices have only gone up 10 bucks in that time. service has been prompt and very good. even on the same plan for 10 years it handles 5/6 devices being on the network easily to this day. never once gotten push back for having a small business plan as an individual running it out of my house.

it will probably never be the cheapest, but if you want quality it is at least worth asking about.

Here's a little one that's easy.
Kroger has 4x fuel points on gift cards when purchased on Friday. We ave out our Amazon purchases per month and McRib will get Amazon cards from Kroger on Wed for that Ave spend amount. Then, we just use the Amazon cards for Amazon purchases. It's good for a deeply discounted tank of gas or 2 per month.

works with any gift card they sell...Lowes, restaurants, other retailers, or just a Visa gift card.

Another tip:
I rehab / rent property and I frequently have to replace old appliances. I almost always buy appliances from Facebook Marketplace. Must have done this about 20 times and have yet to buy a lemon. Dishwashers and Fridges are easy gets and a can be bought for ~30% of original. I look for 2-3 years old. I'm amazed at how many people get rid of good stuff because they didnt like the look or renovated and bought new.

Example: just picked up a 2 year old fridge last night for $600. It was $1800 brand new. Got 2 dishwashers for a total of $300 this week, too.

We have some stores, idk what you'd call them, but they get products from big stores, and they're much cheaper. From food, dry food, to clothes outdoor, tools, etc. It's like when something goes out of season, they get it. We shop a lot there, especially soap, dishwasher stiff, laundry, even snacks. For example, i bought a pole saw that was $100 at Lowe's for $30. You can get the big bags of cereal for like $2, but they're close to the expiration date, usually within a few weeks.

It never hurts to negotiate price, especially for services. We always get several bids for plumbing and electrical work. We then try to decide who would do the best job. If they weren’t the low bidder, which is usually the case, we show other bids and try and get them to match or come close. Used a similar strategy to find a gym and got a joint membership for me/wife down for 10 dollars a month. If you are on Medicare, use their Silver Sneakers discount.

This is how my grandfather does it and bought everything for his back porch project. Buy gift cards at Kroger and get the maximum amount of points. Use said gift cards and HD or Lowes on items needed for the project. Rinse repeat. We would have family gatherings at the pump 3-4 times per month and max out the 35-gal limit every time. All for cents/gal. We didn’t have to buy gas for almost 1.5 years except when out of town.

Marketplace is a great place to find appliances on the cheap. I talked a woman down on a stainless Whirlpool dishwasher, she claimed "it works but I just decided to get another one." She wanted $250 it was basically new. I saw that the sprayers were clogged with something and offered her $50 and we settled for $75. Took it home and cleaned out the ground up chicken bones that they put in it. Still have it. This was 7 years ago.
