Deafening Silence.

Silence is generally caused by not having anything to say .

Because he's a very good administrator and a professional who is not prone to emotional irrational rants like, uh you.

Nothing is going to happen until the end of the season imho and what will the reaction be if nothing happens at all? UT is in a very difficult position because it is clear CBJ is not the answer.

I wouldn't expect this process to be the circus the last one was. Assuming the wheels are in motion, I expect much less information to make it out, right up until the firing is done and the new hire is made.

Why haven't we heard a word out of the AD.

Because they are going to allow the season to play out.

He loses to Bama only he is back next year.

He loses to Bama and LSU only I think he's back next year.

He loses any other game not Bama or LSU I think he is gone at the end of the season. May not even make it to the end of the season.

Oh yes I'm irrational and emotional. I simply asked a question. So they can't say anything? I would think they would not just let it fester. Any comment would be better than the emotional and irrational. Me apparently.

I really do not believe this is true. I think die is cast. Timing is yet to be determined

I think it's moronic and disgraceful that a move hasn't already been made, but what do I know?
Why not phone in the SCar game?
It's not as if CBJ's had success against CWM.

What is there to say?

Man, you know better than to throw an opening like that out there.

From: The desk of UT Athletics Director John Currie
Subject: Addressing the Rumors.

Hello Big Orange Nation,
With an open football weekend, I just wanted to get you up to date on any circling rumors.
I've heard from so many of you lately.
I appreciate all of the different opinions and concerns.
And, I just want to assure you that there is nothing to the rumor that we are going to switch from having both peanut and regular m&m's at both Neyland and TBA. Yes, we did run out of the peanut ones Saturday that people were apparently using as projectiles in the second half of the Georgia game.
As for that, let us all remember that good sports recycle and eat their candy, not throw it.

Well, although the wheels seem to be falling off, it is a bye week. And he is 3-2 after going 9-4 the last 2 years. I bet things will get really loud if Butch goes 0-5 against Muschump next week.

You’re not going to hear anything until such time as the admin sees the season cannot be salvaged at all or, if at the end of the season, the record/results warrant a change or a continuation. They will give Butch at least that much. Currie isn’t there because he’s a knee jerk reactionary. He wants to see more before a final decision is made.

And knowing butch. Probably will.

I was talking about the fact they have said absolutely nothing. You would think even a wink wink nod nod vote of confidence. The lack of statements period seems weird.

Why haven't we heard a word out of the AD.

Here's a consideration that isn't widely discussed but is a factor imo.

Currie just got here and hiring a new head football coach at a football school like Tennessee "starts his clock" as an AD, since his tenure will he tied to the success or failure of the head coach he hires. So, the longer he holds off, the further he can push that decision down the road within reason, the longer he's here.

My guess is he doesn't necessarily want to fire Jones and name his replacement until absolutely necessary. Now, "absolutely necessary" may be soon if we lose to SCar in 2 weeks and get blown out by Alabama (as we all we know is gonna happen). But if Jones can somehow salvage the season by going 7-5 or, by the Grace of God, 8-4 (which I don't believe there's any way in hell we do), then Currie can delay the inevitable and his tenure here is extended by a year here at the beginning.

I believe this could partially explain why we've not heard anything from the AD yet and why certainly no announcement of Jones' firing has been announced like many fans thought it would be as early as Sunday or Monday morning. Just a thought.

If Butch stays beyond this season I'm not sure that buys him any time. It might actually do the opposite. I'm not sure fans can summon any type of hope as long as Butch is here.
