The most surprising thing perhaps about his hire was his track record before the Volunteers brought him in. Dooley was the head coach at Louisiana Tech for three years and only had one winning season during that time frame. He was coming off a 4-8 record, including 3-5 in the WAC. Not my words but it makes sense.

having 5 others coaches decline the job might of had something to do with it.

I think one his first mistakes was keeping Jim Chaney. He was Kiffin's OC but we all know Kiffin called the playes.

And that's because no coach worth his salt would take a job in that time frame. That's why many of us called for a interim.

UT was and is a greast job.

Wow, you know I've given you your fair share of ***t over the past several months for your (what I consider) trolling, but you're spot-on with this.

Try telling that to gaterh8tereric. He'll argue till he's blue in the face.

dooley was hammy's biggest head scratcher after todd raleigh. had his last name been smith, jones, or brown, hamilton would have been tarred and feathered and ridden out of town on a rail.

Other than the Dooley hiring, I am focusing on the positives to the decisions that Hamilton made.

(1) I am glad that coach Fulmer is no longer the head coach. I really doudt that there would have been a vast improvement, had he stayed. He didn't attract a good Offensive Co ordinator to come to U.T. and Clawson was not the answer.

(2) I am glad that Kiffin left. Had he remained, we would probably be in some type of probation by now.
However; the on the field play would have been much better than it is now. Bray would have been more developed as a q.b.

(3) Glad that Brian Kelly didn't take the job here. Had he done so, he would have left U.T. to go to his "dream job" at Notre Dame after one season.

I'm not so sure about that. He has Bowling Green sitting at 5-3 with losses to Florida, Virginia Tech and Toledo, and they beat Miami. I think with a couple years to recruit to his needs and install his complex offensive schemes, he would have been successful here. JMO, though....
