DB upgrade

I so happy with this season but lord we need an upgrade at DB across the board. Talent and coaching. How are going practicing against the WR we have at UT everyday in practice and can’t cover better than this? CWM must have a come to Jesus moment this off-season. Go to a coaching clinic or something. All in all though GO VOLS!!!

No speed, and they look clueless quite often. Time to go back to how we used to turn track athletes into corners.

I think coaching is a bigger part of it. That play they showed a moment ago, shows how open Mizzou was. Flowers being a spectator.

Yeah we need to keep stacking pass rushers. Got to give Coach Banks credit for working with what he has. Defense has very little speed overall. Look like we are pass rushing in quick sand

Not defending Martinez, but he’s not incompetent. Our DBs are slow. Slaughter has been our best CB the last month and he is a converted safety. Hadden may be the only one that has the speed to cover SEC WRs, and he’s been banged up.

Oh absolutely, that would be ideal of course. I was just meaning that used to, speed was a requirement to play corner for us. Fulmer and Chavis would rather turn a track athlete into a corner than they would recruit a player who played corner who didn't have top end speed. Sorry dont think I was too clear in original statement.

I think it’s possible we have the two slowest safeties in the SEC in #1 and #2. And I’m not even excluding Vandy.

Several of the busts today were linebackers. They only had 217 yards on 59% completion % and 6.6 yards per attempt overall. All of which are mediocre/bad. Outside of two bad plays (one of which was incredibly weird), they were actually pretty darn good. The rushing game, particularly the QB was easily the bigger problem. We also won by 42 points.

Every team no but most. I mean we lit up Mo for 700+ and they were the #13 defense in the country. So does that mean their DB’s are terrible? No. The amount of focus that we have out in the portal and recruiting DB’s this year should tell you that we don’t have the talent. Hell look how slow they r. We get beat because of speed not coaching.
