"I think I am most disappointed by the turnovers and how they came at critical times,'' said Cutcliffe. "That's not acceptable. That's on me and I am not getting it done.''

See there it is one of them has some balls.

Phil isn't pointing at himself this year becuase he already did that with the letter he issued saying it wasn't acceptable two years ago when the Vols went 5-6. If he takes it like a man saying it's his fault this year again he's admitting defeat. Don't look for him to take any blame this year for how things are going.

The wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round, round and round, the wheels on the bus go round and round all around Ktown.

Advice to Cut: don't get too close to the bus.

Coach Cut appears to be doing the best job of the top 3. Unfortunately, he's only doing an average job.

But I appreciate him taking personal responsibility.

Same thing he's been saying for 15 years. Why should this be any different?

That is what scares me about all of this coachspeak. People see Cut actually taking responsibility and looking like a leader and the next thing you know.....

Cutcliffe is the only one of the entire bunch I have any faith in, besides maybe Trooper Taylor, but the WRs are too inconsistent.

Might be why he said it. Lord help us.:ermm:

He did some pretty good things at Ole Miss. And that program is about as bad as Miss State or Vandy.

He's the only one I would say "give him some time". Fulmer and Chavis, especially, have consistently proven they cannot adapt. I would say that if Cutcliffe hasn't worked magic on Crompton, then he'll need to be ousted. Crompton is only a Sophmore, and in his 2 big games has played fairly well, considering.

It's good to see people own up, but it still doesn't change the fact that they aren't doing their job (or at least as good as they should).

This is the first time I have heard any of the coaches shoot straight, take responsibility and be vocal about it. I am growing weary of hearing CPF tip-toe around the real issues and failure of his staff, excuse me...failures.CPF is so concerned about making his staff loof good and not speak the truth..... "all things to all people, will cause one to be good to none of them."

I truly hate this "feel good" society. Who cares if someone says something. Just do it! I don't want lip service I want action and results.

How much time does he get and how has DC proved he can adapt? These are the same plays we've been running since his first stint in Knoxville! He and CPF go together. We had a chance to make a big hire at OC but chose the safe route.

Safe = comfortable = conservative = up the gut, draw, screen, and 5 yard passes

What I'm saying is that I'm going to hold my opinion on Cutcliffe until the season is over. Fulmer has had his time. Chavis has had his time. I'm trusting that Cutcliffe is having to adjust his play-calling to the circumstances, but that has been hashed out and re-hashed. I do hold him responsible for the bad play-calling in the red-zone though. And he took responsiblity for it. Lets see how the rest of this year pans out before throwing Cut under the bus.

And I'm not saying you do pj, but everyone seems to expect a TD on every possession. A shootout is not what this team wanted, or needed in that game. The right plays were called, but the players didn't execute. Perhaps Cut didn't take a hands-on enough approach and trusted his assistants to coach the players. Bear in mind it's Troopers' job to supervise Player Development. They're given specific jobs for a reason. If by the end of this year, Cut has proven that he cannot delegate duties proficiently, then throw him in with the rest. But at least give him until the end of the season.

We will never know if Cut was wanting to make changes after Cal but Fulmer was reigning him in or not.

I think Randy Sanders was a product of Fulmer's design.

IMO, head coaches have an idea of what they want and they want OC and DC's with an aligned perspective. However, I think either one of two things is happening with CPF and Cut at UT:

1) They are like minded beyond belief
2) Fulmer grossly dictates the conservative calls

Either way, it is not a good situation.

I'm all for running it up the gut, IF the o-line can actually block and make a hole for the running back to pick up 3-5 yards a play. Nothing wears a defense out like picking up 3-5 yards every time you snap the ball, but we do need to be passing the ball DOWN field, not to the sidelines.

You cant blame Cut for being over ruled on the sidelines !! As we all remember CPF was the O/C before him. I feel the biggest problem is we are not getting our best players on the field due to loyalty situations. I can be certain that O'Neal and Vinson could get y.a.c. if given the oppotunity ! Briscoe and Rogers have NOT played up til now for a reason they cant get the yards after the catch. With Jones and Martin hurt this is a blow to both sides of the ball IMO. Jones can catch, run with the greatest of ease and Harvin has nothing on him period !!Martin is by far the best pass rusher on the team, has proven it over and over in practice !! PLAY these guys you morons it cant get any worse than it is !!!!!!
