Is it really illegal to possess a firearm while intoxicated?

Do people who drink in their homes forego their right to bear arms? Serious question.

Not sure about having guns and drinking in your home but if you have a carry permit it becomes void if you have a drink.

Short answer? Yes.

But depends on the state. Technically, if cops come to your house here in missouri and you are intoxicated with a loaded firearm that's accessible, yes, you are violating the law.

Would it hold up in court? Eh....depends on the prosecutor and plaintiffs attorney.

What about sitting in the hunting cabin the night before a big hunt, sipping bourbon and playing cards. I've stayed in cabins with as many as 7 or 8 guys going duck hunting the next morning. Guns laying on the bed, guns in the closets, guns in every room. Are we in violation of any law by doing that?

Im pretty sure in you are home you are safe unless police are called for a disturbance. Then they typically ask if any firearms are in the house. If you answer yes they may ask where they are located and if thats all of them. If you are truthful you should be good unless a violation of probation or something to possess at all. Now as for once you take firearms outside your home, even if you have a permit I do believe it against law to have firearm in your possession if under the influence. Hence nightclubs ban them.

If you have a CCP you can carry in an establishment that sells alcohol but you CAN NOT drink. Likewise you can't carry if drinking. 5 years I believe. What you do in your own home is none of the government's business. I'm drinking a beer with loaded .380 at arms reach and an SKS leaning against the wall. As long as you ain't breaking a law they ain't gonna show.

It would depend on what state you were in and how much "sippin' " you were doing!

So the op knows exactly what % the kid was on.

Interesting

Thanks

Probably not far off. Baseball scholarships are crazy. Very few if any get a full scholarship. I am sure that plays into the decision to take that signing bonus out of high school or pay for college. I would imagine it would be easier decision of they all had a full ride.

I agree totally but if they are called and ask if you have firearms. Its best to be truthful.

We have been to a lot of schools for my son and there are very few and I mean very few players in the nation that have full scholarship. Most teams with say 35 players will have 7 or 8 that get nothing and a pitching staff of say 17 players will take between 7 and 8 of your 11.7 scholarships

Dathan Prewett is no longer on the roster and neither is Tei Vandeford who graduated last semester I think.
